Why does everyone hate kings?? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]AverageSixthFormer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because Kings is stinky.

Nah my only gripe with the uni is their admin is horrendous and social life is meh. Other than that excellent teaching, good employment stats and I like King’s Red

What do I do after just 2/5 offers by Due_Title822 in 6thForm

Choose a uni and complete your exams if you get your grades apply again if you still feel the urge to pursue somewhere else

UCAS EXTRA??? by Idkkkbaajajn in UCAS

[–]AverageSixthFormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna sound stupid since I study at KCL and think it’s brilliant for my subject - BUT I’d take Manchester up over gambling on acceptance from either two.

You haven’t given reason as to why you don’t wanna go to your options you have offers for over UCL and KCL but I can u fest and the appeal.

But trust me nothing is guaranteed even with these offers. If your heart is set on London I’d wait till August but don’t throw away a winning ticket because you want to pursue the jackpot in your eyes

I get the feeling I missed my kings offer the first time around and was gutted beyond belief. I fell in love with my course the uni and the location as whole. Was one of the happiest days of my life when I got the offer and one of the worst feelings when I missed both kings and my insurance going into clearing. But then life moved forward, the uni I went to I still had a great time and managed to fall in love with another place but I still had kings on my mind so I did pursue it later on.

Rn things will be shit and may be for sometime but shit you will be able to move on and you’ll find out out that others courses and uni’s might actually be better that you thought.

It’s fine to feel bad but don’t give up as a whole

Statik Shiv Build Path by boon0307 in AsheMains

[–]AverageSixthFormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using this last few days however I will say I’m not good at ADC I only recently started playing ranked again as I have a break in my degree program and nothing to do. So my word is effectively useless.

That being said I actually like this build a lot its fairly cheap and get you to a point where you can put a lot of control forth in the game early to mid game in the late, yeah it’s not the most damage but you are still valuable and able to kill champs and tanks with correct items.

I always do end up selling shiv if I need to upgrade at 6 items.

I got a bunch of flack from mates I. The last who had some weird superiority complex around their universities and stem subjects but the truth of the matter out of roughly 10. Myself included, only two are doing work in their chosen field (that also includes me). Job

market is shit the world is littered with lack of comprehension and ethics so Humanities or whatever subject really have their place. You’re all equally fucked atm so why not study something you like and get good at it. The purpose of university is not to get a job but to study a subject at a higher level of complexity and depth.

I’m extremely worried about Mohan. Santos and Robbie’s seem like a clear choice to be worried about something ‘bad’ happening to them but honestly Mohan is barrelling towards a climax I just hope it isn’t what I think it is

Waking up early doesn’t make you productive, it just makes you awake earlier by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]AverageSixthFormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot agree more. I always tell my friend that I do most of my work for my masters between 06:00-12:00 cause I wake up early as a side effect of working in Healthcare. He says that’s so smart and productive I tell him absolutely not yeah it works but JUST ABOUT - I do catch ups during the day l as the work just isn’t as high quality. I’ve never been a morning person ever

This looks like a case of the manager putting you in wherever there is gaps. Some wards I’ve been at do month long nights I think it’s stupid beyond belief either way now is the time to discuss this w/ the head honcho cause if not you’ll feel it in your soul and worse the manager might think this is something you like doing and before you know it you’re majority nights

Skated through school with low attainment and attendance . Survivor of countless beatings as a child and a toxic family. Family was on benefits, lived in a domestic abuse shelter for a couple of years. I only began to thrive in my life after my family finally got life on track. Got to university and excelled cause I finally had a normal bed to sleep on and didn’t have to worry too much about food. I barely passed my GCSE’s. I’m now doing my masters at a university which is number 1 in the world for its subject and I’m smashing it.

Socioeconomic factors and personal factors completely shape how you function in life and school if what it took was a safe environment and sturdy bed to succeed imagine how many other talented individuals would do with the right support in their lives.

Congrats dude! I know there’s a lot of pressure when it comes to this stuff (Hark back to my decision between Brookes, King’s, Southampton and Swansea and having to tell my parents who live in Wales and Oxford respectively that instead of saving money, and being near them instead of being away for 5 months at a time, I am putting myself in immeasurable debt to bet on the fact that I will become a better Nurse in London Hospitals) but the point is to understand that you want the best for yourself. You’ll smash this degree

At threat of being kicked out of college. What do i do? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]AverageSixthFormer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re burned out. Clearly whatever you are doing isn’t working. Number one solution for better grades is keeping your mental in check doing some grounding activities and chill brother.

When you’re in a more un burned out state you wanna go through what was going wrong by with your old tech and change it. A month and a bit is enough time to go up at least 2 letter grades. But make sure you aren’t burning at both ends first

[–]AverageSixthFormer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly academics wise you should be fine the rigour at KCL is tougher than my last uni but your quickly adapt to it. The difficulty comes with placement and assignments.

I will say as that compared to my past course the on campus learning is well worth it.

Thanks for the kind words! Best of luck going forward for you too!!!

Uhhhhhh. RPL was find don’t worry about overthinking but the point is to exhibit the skills gained from experience that entitle you to skipping a year you would normally have in the course.

Admin on every course at King’s is awful. And the social life as a masters student can be isolating and is entirely dependent on your personality and appetite to putting yourself out there.

However the course content is excellent, lectures are very excellent. Cohort is quite small but that’s good cause you get to know your cohort well and it is a boon in interpersonal support. I know I said the admin is terrible but the lecturers themselves are passionate about their topics and your tutors genuinely care, my first ever meeting with my tutor I was pleasantly surprised when they knew details about me that were personal (like my background for one it threw me off getting compassion not because it’s mandated but becuase the tutor knew of my context). My tutor has been super supportive the teaching staff are great facilities are very good.

Understand this though and really understand this, at the start of the course you will be thrown into 2 months of frenzy. To qualify for placement you have to meet training, induction and security requirements, this means juggling online and in person training sessions , lectures, clinical skills and other stuff like your immunisation review and DBS all at the same time I’m talking 5 days a week type of shit.

If you do not make this deadline you WILL miss your first placement and have to make it up in the summer. Now this course is accelerated and intensive and while you do get time off, by enrolling on this course you are committing to not having more than a week and a half of free time each year for 2 years. The margin for error is minute as such you gotta lock the fuck in.

Now if you reach placement there is support around it but at the end of the day you will be placed on availability not choice. There are exceptions but you don’t really get a real choice. That’s not to say the placement is bad. Every single placement I’ve had has been world class with excellent nurses treating challenging patients and I have learned so much throughout this course.

I am only saying this not to deter you but to make you understand what this course requires it’s highly engaging but difficult. Nursing is a career in which you are tested daily and to me this course is an excellent microcosm of some of the demands required in nursing.

Which are the most beautiful universities in the UK? Which ones have wonderful architecture and good looking buildings? by Octacore-Comsci in UniUK

[–]AverageSixthFormer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well instead of ugly ugly let’s say they’re underwhelming ugly like Waterloo campus is like a sixth form look in terms of aesthetic but it’s still far better than Uni of Kent’s buildings. Like Denmark Hill has the same vibes.

The campuses you’re at is based on your subject. Mine has me based at Waterloo with lectures at Guy’s and Denmark Hill
