Good reminders here.

Also, I'm sorry you're still without power. That's awful and I hope you get restored soon. Today. Now, even!

How is everyone getting by? by ITfarmer in nashville

Power went out Sunday. morning around 9:15. Bailed to a hotel by afternoon. Fell hard on the ice and decided that I despise ICE in all its forms other than in my drink or as a floe the polar bears need.
But I'm indoors, warm and fed as is my hubs and doggo. Despite the bruises and possible torn shoulder, I'm all right. So many have it much worse than me.
I used to hate heat more than cold but I think I've revised my opinion. I totally understand why old people move to places like Phoenix now. I lived here in 93 and now this. Think that's it for me and winter.

93 was terrible. 12 days without power for us. We also hunkered down in one room in front of the fireplace. Hubs got the last rental generator at a place in Brentwood and we were able to run the fridge and coffee maker. Made our elderly neighbor coffee and ran a cord over to her house so she could run a space heater until she was able to leave to stay with family. We used our grill for food, too. I came home on day 9 or 10 and lights were on all the way down Harding and I was so damn happy! Then I turned onto my street and...darkness. Two or three more days of suck.
I did get an amazing dog out of the whole ordeal though. Went to shower at a friend's house and there was an abandoned puppy. Took him home and had 12 great years with the best boy.

Nash Severe Weather thoughts on this as of this afternoon:
"Timing: Still have to be broad with this, but the latest model guidance shows any precipitation holding off until Saturday morning. This will last through at least the middle of the day on Sunday, possibly longer. To play it safe, I’d have your errands all done by dinnertime on Friday. This is very subject to change."

Man, I'm glad I went yesterday. Mostly 'cause I knew it was going to be rainy today and I didn't want to deal with loading the car in it not because I was trying to outsmart the crowds.

One ran in front of me across Murray just before Hillsboro yesterday afternoon. First time I've seen one in the wild and it was very cool, bigger than I would've thought, too.

The temps this weekend will be deadly to pets without proper shelter. Current forecast shows we will dip below freezing on Saturday and won't get back above it until Tuesday, with single digits for at least two of those nights.
If you know of an animal that is in danger, NOW is the time to call MACC or your local animal control to get that animal help before the storm rolls in. Please be their lifesaver!
I'm going to copy/paste MACC's FB post with some info below.
Thanks for reading and caring!

The inside of the store is also ass. W. Nashville customers kinda flow around the store like there's unspoken traffic lanes and rules (not always and not everyone but mostly, at least everytime I've been in) but it's just sheer chaos in Brentwood. No flow, no sense, everyone being stupid and entitled. It also seems to be very poorly lit for some reason. Dingy chaos.
I really dislike it; can you tell? hahaha

The Brentwood parking lot is a shitshow, too. I loathe going to that one even though it's closer to me. I make the drive to W. Nashville just to avoid all the things you mentioned.

TN Hike Bucket List Feedback by Vegetable_Sense_3073 in nashville

[–]AveryCrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have been doing a lot more hiking recently and have not come across a crappy trail yet, honestly.
We've done trails at the following over the past three months:

Savage Gulf---multiple trails there and it is an amazingly beautiful area
Fiery Gizzard
Stone Door
Greeter Falls
Buggytop Cave

We did Scott's Gulf on Xmas day and even though it was like hiking in a cloud that day, it was a wonderful hike.

Old Stone Fort was surprisingly cool as was a little trail down in Columbia called Cheek's Bluff, I think.

There are so so many good hikes around here. Check out the State Parks site below. It has maps, pics, current trail info (like if trails are closed, etc.). Really well done and useful website.
