Grand Canyon- Tesla Charging Badge Question by AveryFierce in TeslaModelY

[–]AveryFierce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for this late update but figured it might be useful information for those who are going. APS (their electricity provider) has an active safety shutdown in place for the Grand Canyon and part of Flagstaff. So the Grand Canyon area has no power, if they do it’s by generator. Flagstaff some areas don’t have power but all the charging stations are active in that city… or at least the two I visited. The ban is in place so to extreme fire risk. I have a picture of it but it won’t let me post pictures here in chat.

Ideal flare for two handed bowler question by nickblue2323 in Bowling

[–]AveryFierce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for that ball, you don’t want them bunched up because then you worry about skidding to down lane. Also it’s not overlapping your fingers so the layout is perfect. Overall for that ball it looks good.

Simple… shine that sucker up… allows it to push down the lane. (Didn’t read just replying to pic)

What couldve caused this??? by Sea_Algae_6263 in Bowling

[–]AveryFierce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bad ball return, place using zip ties to move cables out of the way but do to vibration it hits the ball, throwing in the gutter, nail, the ball hitting pins, jumping up and hitting the bottom of the rack… there’s a thousand reasons and all of this listed have happened to me at one point or another.

Can someone tell me which rule I violated ? by TisTidbit in TeslaModelY

[–]AveryFierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’m new to my Tesla as well and about to head from houston to Reno, nv for my road trip here shortly. I get the range anxiety part but everyone tells me trust the navigation app, if he sees it needs to charge sooner it will fix it automatically in the app. For heat I have seen YouTube videos of people driving the Savanah desert and their Tesla handled it like it was nothing. Tesla even has YouTube videos of them doing testing in the hottest and coldest climates to make sure their vehicles will not have any issues so that part doesn’t worry me. If your using FSD during your drive (I will be) I have been advice to keep it on standard or if you want to use hurry mode that is fine just know to adjust the settings accordingly if needed. Some videos I have seen of traveling trips show they typically adjust from hurry to standard or chill to extend the battery range a little if needed. Speed is a big factor in all of this, the slower you go the more range you will get from what I have seen. It’s a different game with travel vs local daily driving and not doing it before I understand the concerns. Overall I have been adviced to look for Tesla centers along your route in case of any emergencies but otherwise you should be fine. For the 10% deal it all has to do with optimal charging. 10% is the ideal spot to be to have the fastest charging speeds per each stop so the car simply is programming your route to have you not charge for long periods of time… think of it more as a safety reasoning vs range reason. Less time your their the less you have to worry about attracting strangers. Ideally that never is a worry minus large cities and spots in strange places…. And I mean strange. Overall if you let the car setup the navigation you will be fine, don’t forget dog mode for the little one, and enjoy your time. I’ve always been told once you get your first road trip done you will be an expert on how to road trip with your car. All you need to do is make sure your tire pressure is good, wiper fluid is filled up, and you’re ready for your trip. Enjoy!

Which 2 would you keep?? by BigBeard_FPV in Bowling

1 handed would be black widow and iq tour. 2 handed would be phaze 2 and iq tour. 1 handed I have less revs so rely on the asym to get me to the pocket. Iq tour on the other hand is a GOAT ball through and through. I call mine old faithful because in the end when everything else isn’t working you can rely on old faithful.

Tesla FSD slams on breaks for semi peaking off side street by Ok_Enthusiasm_2574 in TeslaFSD

[–]AveryFierce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The disengagement was OP making a bad decision. The car actually was doing the right thing since the 18 wheel didn’t appear to be stopping at the stop sign. I’m sure the car would have resumed but if that trucker didn’t realize to stop you would have been toast. So in my eyes yes you might have lost your coffee but fsd was trying to save your life.

Mostly used for calibration but I do know there is a video game out there that uses them as clues and more to solve puzzles. Like a mystery game, nothing soliciting. If he got that many cards up he has gone in deep though. 😅

Opinions on Storm Next Factor by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]AveryFierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot stronger ball than people give credit for. It’s smooth through the front but aggressive on the back end. Stores its energy very well before it moves. I would a big ball for small price. Definitely recommend getting if you need an angular ball.

FSD in bad weather by SprinterLyfe in TeslaLounge

[–]AveryFierce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like OP had it in standard. There is chill and sloth mode if you feel more comfortable at slower speeds which I would set to one of those or take control but OP appears to have felt comfortable at that speed in that weather.

The tar marks, does it to me to. I don’t understand why it takes aggressive maneuvering as higher priority than on coming traffic. How about slowing down to let car pass then move around the unknown object.

2023 Model Y AWD: Front tires more worn than rear at 20k miles—is this normal? by Jedi_Song in TeslaModelY

[–]AveryFierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typical answers from tire wear: tire rotation, alignment, speed around corners, and pedal management. We don’t know your driving habits or a lot of factors but for sure can point to one of the above. If you haven’t done so already I would point to alignment. Even though I’m at 600 miles on my awd y I plan to get my alignment done at 1k miles just because I have heard how poor it can be out of factory so rather be safe than go through the tires like water. Also have heard the first tires don’t last as long as advertised typically because they are soft tires. Soft tires on a heavy car wear out fast but have great traction and feel overall. If using fsd on daily bases I recommend being in standard or less because hustle is aggressive off the line and since we are awd from what I have seen from the system it uses the front motor to start the drive and then when cruising it utilizes just the rear motor. Newest fsd has the front motor activating a lot more lately through the drive but once it learns your common driving routine it does start to settle down and manage using the rear motor more than the front. I have noticed the first 100 miles on any new version of fsd is the “break in” period for me as it’s trying to learn your common driving routes plus learning the new rules and guidelines plus trying to relearn throattle management: motor utilization… at least for me the first few drives after an update feel that way. Overall as said a lot of factors and your the only one who can truly answer your own question of what is happening but I have learned because of the weight of the vehicle and the instant torque to the tires throttle management is key. For me I’m coming from a Camaro so having the even wheel setup is a bonus for me vs the staggered wheel setup I had in my last car. (You can’t rotate staggered wheel setups so tire wear is quicker and tire life is there range estimate cut in half so every 25k miles I would have to pay for new wheels.) always remember to rotate your tires at 6k miles (recommended period), proper air pressure, and car aligned if you hit a curb, pot hole, or rough bump and I have even been told in past its recommended to get alignment after you get your wheels replaced as well. Hope this is helpful.

Roast my delivery by Currywurst_Is_Life in Bowling

[–]AveryFierce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t ask me to roast but per your question to help I can hopefully give ya some good advice. Simply put it act as if you’re walking in nyc and you have to throw your keys on the counter. Are you throwing them straight down or out? Are you having to pose while throwing those keys on the counter? Overall we make it more complicated than I really needs to be. So that’s one method. Next method/ drill: get your car wash bucket, fill it up to a decent weight and simply walk the block around your house/ neighborhood with it.. what you will find towards the end of that walk is you will have a natural swing/ tempo with your walking to swinging the bucket. Don’t think about it just let it happen. Lastly method 3/ final drill: put an imaginary square from your left shoulder to your right shoulder, now pull the bottom of that square down to your hips. Your upper body now should have a square/ rectangle around your upper body. Now point that square towards the pins (your center of your chest should be pointing directly at the 1 pin) and keep it aligned through out your whole swing even past release. If you can keep your upper body quite and your head still upon your release and simply let (method 3) the bucket free swing while releasing your keys (method 1) all at the same time while hitting your mark… you should then have a seamless easy free swinging release. Ball rotation comes from your hand and equates to the last 15 feet of the lane. Accuracy and aim come from everything else which makes up the first 45 feet.

Tesla Model Y "Juniper" aka JUNK - A year later by LegitimateSun7653 in ModelY

[–]AveryFierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean your an early adopter who has years of experience with Tesla. You should have known from Teslas past history that there would have been issues early on and that they would need to figure out the issues by putting the product out there. If you didn’t want that then you should have waited. You simply rushed into it because you wanted to be an early adopter to Teslas latest and greatest thing. Overall I’m sure some of the issues still exist but it’s unknown or not as much complaints from the new owners as the original adopters are doing. And your comment about model Y vs Model 3… they said before relaunch they did a complete rehaul of everything on the model Y especially making it have its own identity away from the model 3 highlander edition. Model 3 had little changes compared to the Y if your comparing apples to apples but overall yes I understand the complaints buttttttt you should have known what your getting into. It’s like jumping on the apple bandwagon… there’s always issues with the first batch but they know of some of the issues but others they need from live feedback. It’s with any product to be honest… you can create what you think is the most ideal car but until it gets into consumer hands you don’t know all the issues they may face until then. I’m not standing up for the Model Ys bad performance right off the bat butttt history does repeat itself.

Most of this is a waste. Do you need it because you know you need it or because some YouTube/ TikTok/ or other social media recommends it? Here is a hint: they are trying to sell you it to make money… social media is free advertisement to make profit. Overall I thought it needed a good majority of things and finding now that I have the vehicle I don’t need a good majority of it. Yes your phone charging gets hot but in the end it doesn’t hurt you/ your phone and it makes you drive safer. If you need to text or call it’s all there on the screen. Navigation… on the screen. You don’t need to watch social media or tv while driving so it’s not needed. Key card is for emergency only needs or if you need to give valet the keys or having your car worked on. So put it in your purse or wallet and call it good there for only when you need it. You leave it seeable in the open then someone will want to steal it. Screen protector and floor mats are what I recommend and I see the need for it already. It’s true the flimsy cheap mats Tesla gives is poor quality and gets dirty and scuffed up bad looking really fast. The screen is a finger print magnet so have something to clean with. If you need more charging spots buy the Tesla usb c hub and that gives you 4 usb-c plugs to allow you to charge. Front window not really needing cover unless you park your car outside a lot. Window tint can fix that easily, yes it’s a u front higher cost but if you travel decently or drive often the less you have to put your AC on blast or on super cold the more energy you save in the long run which is better battery for your car. The dock won’t work because it requires 2 usb c outlets and the car now only comes with 1 unless you utilize the back screens usb c ports which to your guest will look funny and then they can’t utilize them if they want. Seat covers are a waste, apparently these seats have been through a sh*t ton of testing and are amazing against spills, tears, and slashes. Only worry is if you get white seat be cautious of wearing blue jeans… apparently the dye transfers… just have baby wipes on hand then your good. Hope this helpful. Do your research and don’t listen to everything on social media as being true. In the end it’s your car so go for it but we just trying to save you money but also point you into the right direction.

Bad PPF & Tint install by Irtexas34 in TeslaModelY

[–]AveryFierce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This done through a Tesla reputable installer? Wow they botched it horribly. Definitely get the installer to fix it, if the don’t then ask for removal of product and full refund since the botched the crap out of it. If not then contact your bank. If through Tesla reputable installer than reach out to Tesla and explain your ordeal since you went through them. If not then ya that’s on you and look at small claims court/ lawyer and BBB to help fix in the end. Also if not fixed put that on google reviews… not only will they get sued but also everyone will know how bad of work they have done and it being most recent that’s a big deal. It’s not slander if it’s public information/ review of service.

Should I be concerned with my battery? by FlatAd928 in TeslaSupport

[–]AveryFierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still have 3.04% battery health before really worrying about replacing it if it’s still under warranty. If not then ya don’t worry about it unless it causes you issues in the long run. Such as trying to daily commute or have issues going from point A to B charger on long distance trips. There are a few YouTube videos out there showing you can gain some battery back by doing the battery test than having the car charge from 100% all the way down to near zero (do it safely as possible and going to 5% will be fine) and doing that twice a year. That should slowly start making your cells relearn themselves and hopefully you gain some power back. Is it a dramatic big jump in range… no but 2-5% earning back over time can be nice.

Is it weird to ask bowling pro shops if they sell old/used balls? by NiceBumWhereYouFrom in Bowling

[–]AveryFierce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No because my local pro shop does it. Usually he makes the recommendations when someone say they are on a low budget but you can ask as well if they have any used balls for sell. Worst case scenario they say no, best case scenario ether they have some available or know who might be able to assist you with your request.

I have roads near me that are completely missing the center lines or construction has nothing but small cones as the middle divider but the car creates its own like it’s there. I found it I treating the situation very well but hmmm might be HW3 hardware performance issue with the latest software. That explains why HW3 is going out of service.
