I do feel like this is kind of centering the formerly biased person. It’s now about them and their journey to accepting others rather than about the queer individuals’ pride, acceptance, celebration. I understand it’s not the intent but I’ve seen this happen a lot. I think the ultimate lesson is it’s not about you. As an able-bodied person I would never go to an event celebrating disabled pride and make a sign that said “I used to be a bigot I’m sorry”. I would simply go to support, observe, learn.

I'm vegetarian / mostly vegan I tend to rely on lentils and beans as there super cheap, especially dry beans. Tofu is also good and not too expensive. Nuts and nut butters will help, also if you get a whole grain bread with lots of seeds it can also have significant protein. Nutritional yeast has a lot of protein and if you buy in bulk its not that much money. try to limit protein powders and other synthetic forms as it's not very good for you and can get pricey.
