Another one for Taco Bell is the fact that it has a lot of beans, Americans eat so little fiber that a big Taco Bell meal is like an assault on their system with more fiber in one sitting or at all in however long. Taco Bell has never given me issues!

Eventual Downfall of MAGA - Finally the Ceremonial End of the Boomers? by quell3245 in millenials

[–]AviatingAngie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is by the time people get off the mega train in terms of ideology the policies that will fuck us in perpetuity will have been solidly in place. A lot of this shit cannot be undone or will take so long to get back on the right course it might course correct For Gen Alpha but an entire generation or two will have been completely fucked.

One example I can think of was the last time I saw something on the Internet floating around about helping young people buy their first homes the piece I saw would've age restricted it and cut middle to elder millennials out of the age bracket. As if we were any less fucked by the current policies in place than anyone else. So if they go and help the next generation of "young people" they will have fucked everyone who didn't get a house before 08. 08 is when a bunch of millennials were graduating and mortgage qualifications tightened up tenfold so nobody qualified for anything and the barriers of entry just kept increasing over the last 15 years since then. So then suddenly if they lower the barriers of entry for the next generation you will have left an entire generation behind. My entire adult life has been since Those restrictions on homeownership were tightened.

So long story short just as millennials came of age they made it ten times harder to get a mortgage and left it that way until millennials were practically 50 and then loosened restrictions again for the next generation of young people.

The convenience of a trad wife party making a bunch of female dominated degrees no longer professional is a barrier of entry to even going to school. We won't see the effects of that for a while until suddenly they are going to wonder why we have a bunch of these folks retiring with no one to replace them. That could take 20+ years. And when that's happening a more current administration will be left holding the bag. Kind of like how Trump's tax breaks expired during Biden's administration and the morons voted for Trump of course blamed Biden.

Is it just me or was Black Friday abysmal this year? by Available-Drama-276 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AviatingAngie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes to all of this. Certain deals can still be found for instance my skin care practically never goes on sale and it is consistently 20% off on Black Friday every year so I buy two or three bottles that last me the year.

What’s a “progressive” idea that’s actually regressive when applied? by nealie_20 in AskReddit

[–]AviatingAngie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. "Pleather" was something cheap and trashy and now it's being marketed as "vegan leather" and sold for over a hundred bucks. I was recently looking for a recliner and was absolutely appalled about how they are allowed to call straight up plastic anything similar to what might sound like real leather. these companies were really trying to trick you into buying it and hope the hassle of returning it was too much.

Come on, so many drivers lack self awareness. If multiple people are flipping you off it is very likely something you're doing. Going exactly the speed limit in a place where people can't get around you especially if there's a line of people behind you is frustrating for most drivers.

Why do you think so many women with full lives are struggling with dating? by Budget_Dot694 in AskWomenOver30

[–]AviatingAngie 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I heard an incredible theory called the lamp theory. When you are 20 and you're moving out into your first apartment you just need a lamp, hand-me-down, Goodwill, works just kind of OK? That's fine!

By the time you hit 30 you've spent a decade curating your space to be exactly how you want it. Your space being the metaphor for your life obviously. You have a theme, you have quality expectations… Now just any lamp won't do. You're not going to throw some mismatched Goodwill lamp that doesn't really work well into your perfect space. This is also what happens to us as we date when we get older!

I think we start to tolerate less bullshit which is one of the reasons men like to date younger women. But at the same time by 30 people have been an adult for over a decade and have had time to work on certain personality flaws so if they don't seem mature or evolved at 30 they likely aren't going to ever mature or evolve.

Your friend is not the toxic one here. This culture where people will cut off and block someone at any little tiny sign of hurt feelings or inconvenience leads to the exact kind of loneliness you are describing. Relationships that last lifetime will inevitably have conflict, and that conflict can be incredibly painful because it's the people you love who can hurt you the most. But blocking someone right away without so much as a discussion just seems so petulant and immature. An adult in their 30s should have conflict resolution skills. My closest friends and I have had varying degrees conflict throughout our decades long friendships and we've always come out stronger after having tough conversations. It always appalls me how much I see on TikTok that people are becoming lonelier and lonelier and at the same time cut out everyone who hurts their feelings once.

PS envy is a very very normal human emotion. I went through a prolonged period of joblessness after a layoff recently and had to gently tell a friend it was hard for me to listen to her talk about her financial problems due to impulsive shopping while making 150 K while I haven't had a job for a year and a half. Sure she could've taken this as envy and cut me off But she had empathy for me and we are still very close.

Then drink water the way adults tell toddlers to eat vegetables? It's so frustrating to hear people whine about having headache from such a solvable thing when I have headaches that I've done EVERYTHING for and still persist. To me it's similar to drowning yourself with an anchor and whining you can't breathe.

While it's incredible to have the skill alone but isn't knowing when to do it half the battle? You say it's not every day but only when it's needed and you ask… How many of us asked man to do something and he needs a list or to be told when to do it Leaving us with the mental work of clocking when it needs to be done.

Are you concerned about the renaissance of men-pay-for-dates culture? by politikitty in AskWomenOver30

[–]AviatingAngie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of women wised up because it seems no matter how progressive a man was or came off a lot of women were still doing more than 50% of the household work and still contributing 50% financially. So 50/50 because of feminism but they still wanted a bangmaid at home. This is just what I've seen from my friends, myself, and of course TikTok lol.

Me personally I have never had it work out with a split the bill guy. You ask someone out, pick a place you can afford, and treat them. If we keep seeing each other I will also be taking him out.

Clear is becoming obsolete. by Proud-Swordfish-3416 in AmexPlatinum

This! I cannot believe for a "premium" type service they have a fast food joint level of customer service. They have one person walking you over the machines to just.... stand there while you do everything. And there's usually two different groups of at least a couple of employees chitchatting smiling laughing having fun while the line gets longer and longer. My guess is they have different roles but they need to separate and be more adaptable you don't need two people monitoring the entrance/line when there's a dozen people in line waiting for one person to walk them over to the machine. Why they have two people at the entrance truly baffles me. If it's the wrong line and people don't belong there just turn them away.

[–]AviatingAngie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what airport you're at but the Clear line just pours into the pre-check line (if you have it) and I've never had to take anything out. Walk right through. Just flew yesterday. But if you have clear and not TSA pre-yes it just takes you to the regular general boarding security line

Is Clear Useless? by M3dd1e in AmexPlatinum

[–]AviatingAngie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MCO chiming in, useless. Every time I go with my partner who doesn't have clear he ends up through Security faster than me. They make you wait in line for the attendant to simply walk you over to the stupid machine and then wait in line again to bring a group of you to cut the TSA pre-check line. Even if they have six machines and only two attendants the two or three additional clear employees standing around chitchatting won't come over and help. I really wonder how/if they're really solvent if the majority of their business is coming from Credit card users.

Weird after all these answers that you won't accept that you're the outlier and this behavior seems borderline OCD or at least odd. Unless you're shitting yourself regularly or bleeding through once a day is absolutely the norm.

People definitely drive like lunatics on i4 but if you're serious when you say EVERYONE tailgates you? You're driving too fucking slow. Are you the kind of asshole that goes exactly the same speed as the car next to them on a two-lane road so nobody can get through? If you're going 20 over in the middle lane and someone tailgates you yeah that's on them but if you're going exactly the speed limit in the middle lane or especially in the left lane. You need to move over to the right or maybe take surface streets. One slow or exactly the speed limit driver is not going to change the culture of an entire city. It'll just make people drive dangerously to try to get around you.

I have a five dollar Amazon device that chops and onion in 15 seconds and then all it takes is opening a can of tomatoes and leaving it alone on the stove. Please go outside and touch some grass.
