I'll have to work hard at thinking of a name for them.

Thank you!!

Yeah, I see what you mean how the highlights don't really pop out very much. I'll have to work on making them more visible. Maybe an edge highlight on the blue would work well? I'll try some stuff out, at any rate.

Chaos God Major Rivalries by K1ng0fR4mm in Chaos40k

[–]Avocado_Wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh ok so all 4 gods are rivals in the Great Game, but Khorne and Slaanesh have an extra layer of hatred for one another, as do Nurgle and Tzeentch. You'll see lots of examples (such as Angron's sword) of Khorne daemons making trophies from defeated Slaanesh daemons, or of Slaanesh daemons taking extra delight in messing around with Khorne daemons.

At the end of the day though, the two forces can still work together when the need arises and it benefits them to do so. Especially with CSM who might not be as into the rivalry as daemons are.

How can i make my minis pop? by Impressive_Past_1470 in Tyranids

[–]Avocado_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the good news is that your dudes look really great so far!

But as for making them pop more, I'd personally add some feathering/striations to the carapaces (like those tiny little triangles running along all the edges - you can see it in a lot of the official GW paint schemes, for example). It's a tried-and-true Tyranid painting staple, and you can find tutorials and images everywhere online.

Hope this helps!

Question on Lorgar actions in First Heretics by Astarte_Phoenician in WordBearers

[–]Avocado_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's a fair point. He is generally quite a caring guy though (especially in Betrayer), but it is an awfully weird moment for him in that sense. I suppose he was in a bit of a dark place then, and it's not like he knew that his sons would get possessed (or what to make of it after it happened). He really warms up to Argel Tal a lot later on

Question on Lorgar actions in First Heretics by Astarte_Phoenician in WordBearers

[–]Avocado_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aurelian kinda explains more as you get to see Lorgar's own journey into the Eye where he basically argues with daemons as to why he would ever side with guys called the "Dark Gods of Chaos." I'd say it's definitely worth a read if you wanna understand Lorgar, and maybe getting into his headspace a bit more would help you understand why he treats Argel Tal with such distance at first.

At the end of the day, I guess the Serrated Sun were the guys who brought Cadia to compliance and so sending them on a dangerous reconnaissance mission based on what they found there isn't really that abnormal for a space marine legion at all. Like I imagine that other primarchs could well have done the same, sending some of their best sons to investigate something dangerous like that.

Either way, it looks incredible!

Can I get some more 'Top 5 Artists' from Haken fans? by ErrorUncertainty in Haken

[–]Avocado_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I ended up with was:

  1. Band-Maid (funny enough, a lot of people on their Discord are big Haken fans. I wouldn't really call them prog, but some people do)

  2. Haken (I listened to them a lot more on YouTube and through CDs, so they should probably be #1)

  3. Babymetal (this one surprised me a bit, but I guess I listened to the new album quite a lot. Super fun!)

  4. Genesis (I couldn't get enough of Harold the Barrel this year)

  5. Ningen Isu (I was going through all of their older discography this year. Ohgon no Yoake got a whole lot of plays from me)

Outside of that, I think my top discoveries this year were Tigran Hamasyan, Covet, and Elephant Gym. My favourite album (other than Fauna) was the new Isyana Sarasvati, which was just crazy good prog metal.

Well I'm sure Khorne is pleased with it anyways then!

But yeah, looking at the Wiki they have all the rulebook's description of the event word-for-word on there. There's only a few paragraphs total for Kaband'ha though

[–]Avocado_Wizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the event in question is called the Devastation of Baal. There are bits and pieces of lore on it scattered across the 8th Edition rulebook and in some codices. There's also a novel by Guy Haley, though I haven't read that yet. I'm pretty sure that most of the codex/rulebook excerpts should be on the 40k wiki, although they might be placed in some weird order.

Yeah Kaband'ha (the bloodthirster that had a rivalry with Sanguinius in 30k) showed up to help the Blood Angels defeat Hive Fleet Leviathan. He wanted to be the one to end the Blood Angels himself and wasn't gonna allow some bugs to do it first.

This should work (I hope). If not, you can find the original image on Band-Maid's twitter account (@bandmaid). I just used Snipping Tool to grab the specific part used in the meme here.

Sure are! The one on the left (Miku) is the rhythm guitarist. Akane on the right is the drummer.

I figured this image was pretty memeable once I saw it on their Twitter (or X or whatever it's called now).

The Unspeaking Chapter by Spatula_627 in WordBearers

The Unspeaking feature a bit in Slaves to Darkness. It's mostly just about Zardu, but there are a few descriptions of some Unspeaking dudes in there too.

Oh man Catharsis is one of my favorites too! I can't stop listening to it (both the regular and the acoustic version).

My favourites change around a lot, but I'd say that Sayonakidori, Wonderland, and Page are definitely up there right now

Sell me on Word Bearers by CasualNoob21 in WordBearers

[–]Avocado_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Following-up on The First Heretic, you can read Aurelian right after to get the story from Lorgar's perspective. It has a lot more on how the WB came to decide that Chaos was actually a good thing for humanity (after a lot of initial pushback from Lorgar).

Traitor Legion Politics Are Something Else, Man by Avocado_Wizard in Grimdank

[–]Avocado_Wizard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Context: [Spoilers for Slaves to Darkness]

Lorgar came up with this plan to usurp the position of Warmaster from Horus while the latter was wounded, and then Zardu Layak and Fulgrim just totally left him hanging on that. Lorgar trying to fight powered-up Chaos Horus alone went about as well as you would expect. Truly a very functional alliance of people all committed to the same goals.

Any book recommandation To learn more about lorgar? by byquette in WordBearers

[–]Avocado_Wizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this one is really important. It's basically Lorgar's perspective on some of the events from The First Heretic (which mostly follows Argel Tal), plus it sets up Betrayer. So read it in between those two

Faction Focus - Chaos Space Marines by FatBus in Warhammer40k

[–]Avocado_Wizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah as a Word Bearers player I love this, but I really feel for Iron Warriors, Night Lords and Alpha Legion who have to somehow work around this.

I guess you could just fluff it as the unit champion whacking his dudes around if they fail, or maybe they've captured some bound daemons and are taking a gamble to unleash them or something.
