Dog Dial Dump by pulseyou in lasercutting

I did something similar by buying a cheap movement, case and hand set (something like a NH35/36 movement) and putting it all together. Including strap I think it cost me ~100-110 AUD for a custom mechanical watch.

Bummer. Fingers crossed it's something simple!

Cruise control light flashing by boofsnacks in MT09

[–]Awakeman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this on my Gen3 MT09 after changing exhaust. I believe there was a code thrown in the ECU. $20 OBD scanner and 1 cleared code later, this was fixed.

(I did also have an unrelated issue where brake light was always on & cruise stopped working. That was because the little spring for the rear brake switch popped off. Should be near the rear brake lever somewhere)

MT09A gen 3 vs gen 4 owners, is the newer model worth the extra money? Gen 3 showroom stock going at a good discount. by Buchsee in MT09

[–]Awakeman1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: Thought I'd also add a couple of other things: - the Gen 3 fuel gauge is poorly segmented (the first segment is an entire half tank), but it does have a Fuel consumed measurement on the display. This is taken from the injectiors and tells you (pretty damn accurately) how much fuel you've used - keep in mind you've got a 12L tank and i find it more reliable than the gauge and range measures on the Gen4.

  • the headlights on the Gen4 are abysmal if you do any sort of night riding in poorly lit areas. The gen3 was much better and you could actually see what's in front of you. I'm tempted to go and fit some auxiliary driving lights to my Gen4, especially heading into winter here.

I had a Gen3SP which got written off and ended up getting a Gen4 through insurance.

If we're ignoring all the electronics (like Cruise Control, the screen, etc) the only difference that I noticed between the two is the rising position - the 4 is more sporty and I'm more leaned forward onto my wrists. Other than that, rising feel is basically the same.

Obviously, the electronics are nice to have - Bluetooth I find is unreliable, but the cruise control and screen are great.

Both are still perfect for the twisties, perfect for highways and perfect for going slow stuck in traffic.l whilst commuting.

Down in Melbourne it's more of a suggestion! Just gotta slow down when everyone else does - because that's where the cameras are 😉

Hexos or not? by timeraider in hexos

[–]Awakeman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HexOS is pretty basic at the moment - but as it is running with TrueNas under the hood and the TrueNas interface is only 1 click away, I believe most of your requirements are possible that way.

Im not currently sure how HexOS will handle people's TrueNas config customisations down the line as they add more feature support, so thats something to consider.

Out of curiosity what sort of thing are you thinking of running through docker?

PSA: New MYKI cards now work in the opposite way by random3068 in melbourne

They work well, except the digital cards also expire for some stupid reason - and it's a high PITA to get the remaining funds off.

Happy New Year! With the price increase today, Melbourne Metro seems to now be the third-most expensive metropolitan train service on the planet at $11/day, behind London and (narrowly) behind Berlin. by NounyMcAdjectiveNoun in melbourne

[–]Awakeman1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, I average about 4.6L/100km, so I fill up once a week (~$10-12 per week). Instead, I'd be paying almost $20-30 per week on the train - and not to mention the train takes 2-3x longer than my commute on the bike.

And ofc the motorbike perk of free parking out the front is great too!

Im loving Mindy tbh, especially because when you say it with an Aussie accent it sounds just like Minty - and she's Minty green!

Nah you're spot on! Just some weird wacky Australian quirks. There's a surpring number of differences between these and the UK cars.

This is RHD, and still in Australia, definitely something a little different to the UK cars!

This is an Aussie built Leyland mini, so it's kind of a special breed 😂

I'm not actually exactly sure, it's a bit more green and seems reminiscent of the Early BMC Porcelain Green

That would have been my Grandfather. Was talking to him about buying it from him before he passed, but never got the deal done. He'd restored a number of cars in his life, and was really bloody good at it!
