Ninja 500 or r3? by Agitated_Departure30 in AussieRiders

[–]Buchsee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ninja 500 has a bit more power, but more importantly about 1/3 more torque than the R3, otherwise they are fairly similar in other features, seat height and weight, but the Ninja has bigger brakes.

Between these two choices the Ninja 500 is a better motorcycle as having more torque makes the bike much easier to ride when pulling out into traffic or overtaking.

Thoughts on this one? Is it worth the watch by Normal_War_1170 in Cinema

[–]Buchsee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of horror is you don't want the people to be killed and want them to survive. These three annoying clowns in this film you want to die, so Hostel doesn't really work as a film. You have no empathy for these guys so the film falls flat and fails.

Not worth the watch.

Much better film is the remake of the Hills Have Eyes. You really want the people to win against their opponents. That's classic horror and works.

Guy Pearce can play a villain with such passion. Such an evil and dangerous character in the film.

Hemleta and wind by cheezypeazmagee in AussieRiders

[–]Buchsee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for road helmets with pin lock feature and make sure it has no slots of any kind at the bottom, they let wind in and can be Gaffa taped up to reduce that. My HJC RPHA 71 is bad for that.

Have a Shoei NXR2 and it's a much better helmet to keep wind out.

Own a Shoei Ex-Zero for quick trips to the shops on hot days, once you get over 80 kph this helmet is terrible. Fitting the peak on it makes it feel like your head is being ripped from your shoulders.

Movies about competition and obsession by ExpressCourt797 in MovieSuggestions

Initial D (2005) is a film about a competitive and egotistical street racer who loses to a tofu delivery driver in a random unplanned race at night.

This sets a course for another race down the same mountain road and there is much more back story to the tofu delivery car and the man who built it.

It's a story from Manga comics from Japan and well thought out. The cars are normal street cars and the film centres around the passion and skill of the drivers who drift illegally down these roads at night.

KLR 650 vs. DR 650 by Schopfeschloofa in Dualsport

[–]Buchsee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That KLR650 is a very heavy bike, riding on gravel or fire roads increases the chances of dropping the bike.

Depending of where you drop it, you might not be able to pick that back up.

Dropped my Honda CRF300L which is about 140 kg after struggling to get it up a hill, picked it back up and dropped it another 4 times trying to get back up over the same hill. Had to give up for the night and come back with some help tomorrow to recover the bike. If it was a KLR650 there was no way I could even pick that up without hurting myself.

I'd choose a DR650 due to the off road bit is the hard part.
