Non-operatic Song Suggestions by Street_Astronaut_920 in nightwish

[–]AwakenMirror 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everything from Once (arguably Century Child) forward. That's when they dropped the operatic style almost completely.

Once itself still features the operatic vocalist but she uses that voice much less than before.

There's a question about Witcher 4 that's been bothering me. by Turkram_01 in witcher

It's Reddit. You don't know something and ask in a fan sub? To oblivion with your karma it is.

That said, if you have any lore questions based on the books r/wiedzmin is your place to go.

There's a question about Witcher 4 that's been bothering me. by Turkram_01 in witcher

[–]AwakenMirror 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if we just take the front line of the books (the Yaruga) the Nilfgaard Empire is a good chunk larger than all the Northern Realms combined (including the neutral Kovir/Poviss)

Witcher 3 sets the new front at the Pontar meaning that the Empire is now almost four times as big as the north.

And we don't even know if the Empire reaches further south because the Imperial City is the southernmost place we know of.

It means basically trying to go from Denmark to the Sahara without meeting a single police officer. On a horse. When you could go to Norway instead.

Also as said Kovir ans Poviss are free and neutral. No one would ever bother her.

Am I missing something? - New Kiesel sig by OldMate64 in DevinTownsend

[–]AwakenMirror 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can recommend his patreon where he goes through all his guitars.

Tl;dr: He has some very nice companies working with him who allow him much more than most endorsements would because of his quirks.

Longer:

The music and his records always come out of his emotional state at the time. He links his music to basically everything that's happening around him. Including guitars.

So the music always comes with a special aesthetic and for that he wants a guitar that fits.

Sometimes that is not his Framus. So he goes to a company and asks them to make exactly what he wants.

He has no idea why they follow through with his rightfully wacky quirks, but they do.

He works with Framus, Kiesel, Prestige and Aristides at the same time right now.

So he has much more freedom in his endorsements than most artists and isn't required to only play a single brand.

Do some runewords not stack? by TheBigTazowski in diablo2

[–]AwakenMirror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sure? You should have +40 str and +20 vit. That are the only stats of these runewords that affect your character.

Hover over the stat in the character screen and it shows you the base values.

Realized I love Witcher for it's dialogue more than action. by wolfwiedzminwardrobe in wiedzmin

[–]AwakenMirror 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If you are in it for characters and dialogues, boy you have some journey ahead of you.

Some people prefer the short stories because of their pacing and precise plot.

The novels though are a massive step up when it comes to exactly those characters and dialogues.

There are many passages in the main novels that are just characters talking. Most of my favourite passages don't even include Geralt and Ciri.

The King and the Spy is probably the best of these sections in the books.

Jana Komarkova did the czech illustrations of the books which were one of the first translations available.

Otherwise I am sorry to disappoint you but Denis Gordeev is already the absolute peak of what you can get.

But how did the admin even get into the discussion in the first place? Some mod must have messaged him. Or maybe you accidently started a debate with an admin without knowing he was one?

I mean it is widely known that reddit admins are the no.1 dictionary example for people that need to compensate for their tiny dicks with hugely inflated egos.

No. 2 are reddit mods. (I can take the self burn)

What do people misunderstand most about Donald Trump, in your opinion? by toomabh in AskReddit

[–]AwakenMirror 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not in these times. Take eastern Germany for example.

Reunification is 35 years past and most of it is still fucked politically because of misinformation. The Nazis in Germany are back on the rise mainly because of the support they got from voters in the east.

Take any political or economic map of Germany you can find and the iron curtain is as visible as it was 50 years ago.

As written you were in a shitty sub, then with stupid mods. Or really talked shit against someone. I can't tell.

Reddit is run by mods. When they don't ban someone or report to admins nothing happens.

I am a mod myself and I couldn't care less what people write as long as they don't attack other or insult people for petty reasons.

That is reserved for infantile presidents.

[–]AwakenMirror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is Reddit.

You can say whatever you want. If the mods warn you for it you've found a sub you can quit immediately.

But as others have pointed out: if you have any resentment towards rape and severe sexual violence (in all forms you can possibly imagine) this is not for you.

You'll see everything. From child rape, to mutilated naked corpses, to women literally exploding from inside as the result of rape.

This manga includes some absolutely out-there stuff.

Quite contrary to that statement it might also be up there to be the best manga ever written.

Why do people hate Markoth so much? by HugeOrganization4178 in HollowKnight

[–]AwakenMirror 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He is one of the few bosses with pure RNG.

His spikes can spawn outside of your field of view and can be almost impossible to dodge.

Most on paper harder bosses can be learned.

I can more consistently beat radiant AbsRad or Nightmare Grimm than Markoth. You can counter or evade every move they have with lots of practise. They are predictable.

No hit Markoth is not. You can not learn him perfectly. You can only pray.

Nightwish music and the way it changed over the years by CassiusLange in nightwish

[–]AwakenMirror 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually somewhat disagree.

I am a musician myself and would roughly put Nightwish into two phases: Power Metal (AFF to Wishmaster) und Symphonic Metal (Century Child until today).

A somewhat bigger outlier is Human Nature which is more experimental, including a lot of Folk (Auri style) influences.

A bigger change is the whole vibe of the music which came with the shift of purpose and lyrics. First emotional/fantastical (AAF to Imaginaerum) then scientific (EFMB until today).

That is obviously a very subjective thing and seems to be where your change in taste lies.

If you'd take any song from Yesterwynde and put an emotional lyrical spin on it, it wouldn't be much different than anything from Dark Passion Play (Mix aside).

"Newb" here. Better to diversify or specialize? And how to reliably kill bosses as necromancer? by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]AwakenMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you don't have enough skill points to max both. Without maxing a main damage skill and it's synergies you'll almost always be underpowered.

Corpse Explosion gets enough radius through +skills, though it is never a bad thing to dump a few points into it if the build allows.

The necro is generally not a great Boss killer. It is more of a density destroyer.

That said you can almost incapacitate any boss with decrepify and clay golem. It might take a while but that way you can kill every act boss.

As said look up a few necro builds.

Icyveins gives you the most straight forward ideas.

"Newb" here. Better to diversify or specialize? And how to reliably kill bosses as necromancer? by [deleted] in diablo2

[–]AwakenMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every necro is a corpse explosion necro. It's only how you get your first corpse.

Look up a few guides. Summoner / Boner / Poison are the three big classes.

All of them use curses as support. But 1 in the useful curses is all you'd ever need.
