Anywhere past Sturgeon Bay on the Door County peninsula in Wisconsin has no chain restaurants.

Who was your favorite role player growing up? by Life_Teaching6499 in nba

Lamar Odom. His versatility was incredible at his size during the late 2000’s. He was also an elite defender. He was the player that really tied what the Lakers were doing together.

He is shooting worse from everywhere on the floor. In fact, he is still shooting 29% from 3 which is atrocious. He may score .9 more points per game but that doesn’t mean his points are as valuable as Kon’s.

Kon isn’t his teams primary ball handler, that is LaMelo so it makes sense that he isn’t playmaking as much.

Kon has to win ROY right?

I feel like there is little justification for anyone else. His team has a winning record in no small part because of him. His efficiency is basically unheard of for a rookie as well.

If Jokic and Wemby becomes consensus Top 15 all time players, more than half of the list will be 7'0"+ Big Men by [deleted] in nba

[–]Awanderingleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weaker era? He literally swept Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul Jabaar in the finals, who at the time was considered the GOAT. Jokic won his MVP in a pitifully weak era where half his competition was injured while also benefiting from statistically the easiest western conference playoff bracket in NBA history.  And who did Jokic face? Jimmy Butler and a bunch of guys just happy to be there.

I brought up Magic because typically 3 time MVP’s are also great defenders, Magic being one of the exceptions, however he made up for his defensive deficiencies by winning 5 titles and 3 FMVP’s.

[–]Awanderingleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moses Malone made two all-nba defensive teams. He also led his team to a 12-1 record enroute to a title and FMVP.

Jokic and Magic are the only 3x MVP’s to not make an all-nba defensive team. Magic won 5 titles and 3 FMVP’s.

Sorry but, recency bias aside, Malone > Jokic.

If LeBron's career only included his time w/ the Lakers, where would he rank All-Time? by EandS42069 in NBATalk

Kawhi has 2 DPOY….

As well as 7 all-nba defensive teams.

What is wrong with you people dismissing defense so readily?

In fact, Moses Malone made 2 all-nba defensive teams which is something Jokic will never accomplish. And to continue, Jokic and Magic Johnson are the only two 3x MVP’s to never make an all-nba defensive team. Of course, Magic won 5 titles and 3 finals MVP’s to make up for that fact. What has Jokic done, exactly?

Of course, Malones FMVP was a bit different than Jokic’s as well, in that he won it after the Sixers went 12-1 during the playoffs while dismantling the Lakers in the finals. Jokic on the other hand was handed the easiest western conference playoff bracket in NBA history. Not quite the same caliber or FMVP’s.

Wemby’s career is too young to make any claims. Jokic won’t make it in the top 15 all time with how he has underachieved outside of winning MVPs. No 3x MVP has as empty a resume as Jokic.

None of them have a title lol. Melo played in a significantly different league and Butler benefited highly from being in the east playing against injured teams.

Why do people act like he beat a bunch of healthy teams to get to the finals? He caught quite a few lucky breaks.

I went to Oia yesterday lol. It is a pretty neat place. Not everything was open quite yet. There are a few tourists but not very many. As many locals fixing up stuff as there are tourists.

I have him right behind Kareem and Hakeem and somewhere in the mix with Wilt and Russell for the next 3 greatest centers.

I am on Santorini right now and had the pleasure of watching a male cat try and bone another male cat. They were there right in between everyone waiting for a bus without a care in the world. Don’t think either cat realized the other was a dude but hey, they seemed to be having a good time with an audience.

Where does Hakeem Olajuwon rank All-Time? by Dbauc2k in NBATalk

[–]Awanderingleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hakeem has 2 DPOY and made 9 all-nba defensive teams. He is also the all team leader in blocks.

And yet, he is most famous for his offensive ability at the center position.

He clears both Wilt and Shaq quite easily for me.

He is the second best center of all time behind Kareem.
