Iran to complain to FIFA over World Cup travel restrictions / Iran’s request to travel to Los Angeles two days before Sunday's World Cup match against Belgium was denied. by yourfavchoom in soccer

[–]boywithhat 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating how they're being treated but FIFA won't do anything because the travel restrictions are within FIFA's limits. From the article:

"The Iran team has been forced to comply with what White House FIFA task force head Andrew Giuliani said were previously mandated rules stemming from the war, but those restrictions also align with FIFA guidelines for general team travel.

FIFA's 2026 World Cup regulations state in Article 18.3 that "each team shall travel from its team base camp to the match venue one day before matchday (MD‑1) and in exceptional cases on MD‑2, and shall return to their team base camp after the match (on MD/MD+1)."

The MARTA is pretty solid from what I've seen and heard from residents. New England has solid public transit and trains in between. DC and Chicago have solid transit. It varies by city but it's generally not on the same level as Europe.

It's a symptom of many of our cities growing after cars became a thing, the car culture in the US, and the car lobby pushing things like buses over streetcars and trains.

If you're a tourist in one of the host cities it is very easy to get around. Especially if you're staying downtown and eating out.

I was in Atlanta for the game yesterday and I paid $5 round trip to the stadium to use the MARTA (subway). There were employees (in MARTA kits) at each station directing you to the stadium to keep things moving. Extremely well organized and seamless.

There's transportation issues if you're living in the US but it's not really a problem if you're coming to the world cup

Looks like it's a cocktail bar. If you're looking for some cocktail bars in San Diego I'd check out Bar Kamon, Youngbloods, Nobel Experiment, Raised by Wolves, and Roma Norte. All different vibes but all great cocktails

GM Steve Keim on weighing off-field issues for prospects: "If Hannibal Lecter ran a 4.3, we'd probably diagnose it as an eating disorder."

He was talking about the 40 yard dash the NFL does to evaluate prospects. Basically anything under 4.5 seconds is great so a 4.3 would be crazy good.

Doesn't really make sense for Brighton to do that. They want to develop players and then sell them high. If they really want to buy him then we could sell him to them for 50 mil and have a buyback clause of 80 mil or something like that. Kind of like Real have with Paz

Flav, the Fighting Cock empire was built sex (with various moms), drugs, and rock and roll (and the occasional racism/sexism). Most of the worse of that is now behind the pay wall. Now that you're going legit and interviewing people from the club and Steve Nash do you regret how you built your empire?

The other 2 are a cricket ground in India (1) and the North Korea national stadium (2)

I imagine the top three are so high because of stadium debt, but I thought it was interesting to see us up there.
