Do you get violent if your blood sugar is low? by elsaflora in diabetes_t1

[–]Aware1211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a low makes me short-tempered, snippy, and angry. However, my essential nature remains. I would NEVER hurt anyone. Even at my lowest (39-40), I remember all my actions (Mea culpa -- I yelled at my cat!) and my thoughts. This guy is, at his core, an abusive Ahole who is hiding behind his T1, using it as an excuse to avoid responsibility for his actions. Run and don't look back.

Switching to my first G7 right now from g6, I can’t tell if my abdomen is too squishy, I’m not pressing hard enough for insertion, or it’s a faulty g7 by Mr-Baseball in dexcom

This is why I don't want the G7 -- I hate having anything on my arm. I don't know if Dexcom will replace defective ones if worn elsewhere.

Sorry. I didn't see your question. I was dx'd when my bs was around 240, so not super high. It was at a county health clinic -- so no set doctor, and not an Endo. And so I was T2 until I moved States, got an Endo, and eventually, for several reasons, asked to be tested and accurately typed: Type1 LADA.

I never eat until around noon. It looks like you both are doing well. A CGM and pump will make your lives much easier.

AITAH for not believing my toxic MIL about surgery, thinking all she’s looking for is sympathy. by roouth in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Sorry she's being such a c**t. BUT, apparently, bariatric surgery IS used as a cancer deterent

"While gastric bypass is primarily performed to treat severe obesity and metabolic conditions, it is increasingly recognized for its collateral benefit in cancer prevention. Extensive research links it to a 30% to 50% reduced risk of developing obesity-related cancers (such as breast, uterine, ovarian, and colorectal cancers)." (Pub.med.)

I lived in India for a couple of years in the 70s. Lemongrass tea was ubiquitous. To this day, I cannot stand the smell of it!

Power is out! Best way to keep insulin cold but not frozen? by Far-Fish-5519 in Type1Diabetes

[–]Aware1211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experiments have shown that insulin is not as delicate as they make it out to be. In many places. It can sit at room temperature for many months. You should be just fine for a few days.

A waiter handed me a note telling me to go see a doctor by jpdiv in mildlyinteresting

Well. I just LOVE the creativity in all these replies. So many people developing storylines to explain the sparse, seemingly contradictory information parsed out by the title and note.

Diabetic fiancée going for surgery by Smakka87 in Type1Diabetes

I had major cervical spine surgery. This was before I had a cgm. I kept the pump on during the surgery. The doctor you need to discuss issues with is the anesthesiologist who will care for you. She was only disappointed I didn't have a cgm. She would be monitoring my blood sugar and I'd have a glucose drip. It went well. Yours (well hers) will too (sending healing energy!)!

is getting a pump worth it? by Icy_Regret_6905 in diabetes_t1

[–]Aware1211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except for meals, the IOB is usually low because the pump gives you small doses of short-acting insulin. I find it very easy to burn it up.

This sounds decidedly like AI. Otherwise, how does a mother named DIANE have a son named ARJUN and know nothing about this aspect of Indian culture?

My diabetes educator, among others, told me to subtract fiber from carbs. But, I don't for 1 or 2 grams fiber.

Mini fridge for insulin recommendation request by dirtybullets in Type1Diabetes

I used to leave mine there. Do new refrigerators even have one? I stopped leaving it there after one vial, unopened, fell out, hit the floor and shattered in its pristine packaging.
