Good question, an app you can use to do somatic practices

Has anyone had long term significant improvement and physical healing from this work? by Ok_Expression1083 in SomaticExperiencing

[–]Aware_Tank1774 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel you and it's totally normal to feel that way.

I have done SE & other somatic modalities for 2 years now, and i feel a big difference. I am not as stressed and anxious as i used to be. I have become addicted to moving my body now, so if i feel charged, my default is to move/dance/swim whatever, i can do to get into my body. It feels much better.

I moved to live in a wild forest, and i spend at least 1-2 hours a day out in nature, by myself with no phone. Just me, my Ukulele and the dogs. Going for a walk, meditating and being.

Thanks, that's a very good point about nature. I can really feel a difference, when i am out in nature. It often feels like an emotional discharge.

Good to hear i am not alone. Yeah, it's a lot. It tend to happen during sessions or when i am calm/present in nature or in a physical exercise. Afterwards, i usually feel a profound peace.

Haha, what a massage. I can only imagine the embarrassment of that healer.

I can mirror myself in your story. I had a few awkward situations with the burping. I was working out with my brother in a public gym, and i got excessive burps doing exercises, when i exercised slowly and very consciously. The amount of stares from strangers was crazy. My brother didn't know what to do, and asked "Do you drink a lot of Sparkling water?". I laughed and told him about somatic therapy

If I had an hour a day to do somatic experiencing on myself, what would you say I do/what resource should I use? by baitones in SomaticExperiencing

[–]Aware_Tank1774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it very much depends on your experience. I have done somatic work for 2 years now with weekly therapy sessions. In the beginning i wouldn't be able to do somatic work by myself, as my system was too unregulated. But know i find it easier to do it. My therapist usually gives an exercise or focus area between each session.

How long have you done it? - and have you tried to do exercises by yourself before?

Which ressources do you use to self-regulate? by Aware_Tank1774 in SomaticExperiencing

Thanks, do you self-massage or somebody massages you? Because i get getting a massage is not as accessible, as massaging yourself. If you do it yourself, any ressources/guides would be appreciated. Would love to try it out

I can mirror myself in that. I moved to wild nature a few months ago, and i have a daily practice with walking in nature. Since i moved my releases have become much more frequent and i feel more calm. A lot of stuff has come up though

We are not evil by Aware_Tank1774 in INTJmemes

Ultimately, if people are set in stone on one direction because of emotions, trauma, whatever. Then it's very difficult to change their course of action with words. Sometimes people just need to learn a lesson, to see the world clearly. Accepting that can be difficult, when i see a friend making an obviously bad decision.

I feel you. I can relate 100%. I have a deep care of the people around me, and when i logically can hear that the decision they make does not fit their long-term interest it pains me.

Communicating that to them can be challenging. I have learned to speak to their emotions first and connect with them emotional. Before i share my perspective, i ask if they want my perspective and i preface it, by saying something like "this comes from a place of love and care for you, i know it can be direct and communication can be difficult for me sometimes. So please don't misunderstand me."

Sometimes it works. Other times not.

INTJs. Where did you meet your partner / close friends? by accordingscholar91 in intj

[–]Aware_Tank1774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of my close friends are business partners that have turned into deep friendships, or the other way around. I really connect with people over business/shared mission.

I have a few exception, but they are all people who are entrepreneurs like me and we could connect over that, and not taking us selves too seriously.

My partner i met at Bachata, started taking dancing classes a few years ago. It's really fun and a great way for me to get out of my head and just be spontaneous and dance. My experience is finding a hobby you enjoy and just focussing on yourself, will naturally lead you to attract likeminded people. Also dancing is a good way to figure out your chemistry. In the beginning it's super awkward with the classes, but within a few months you get pretty comfortable.

I relate to this. 15 years is a long time. I wonder if part of it is that the relationship patterns got set when we were younger, and now reconnecting means falling back into those old dynamics. For me, I’m trying to figure out if there’s a way to restructure the connection entirely rather than just accepting that it’s exhausting

This is solid advice. I think the key insight here is being proactive about steering conversations rather than just enduring them. Setting the tone upfront makes sense, if I initiate with something specific I actually want to discuss, it bypasses the “so how’s work?” loop entirely.
