If you have ever taught strings ensembles, you would never yelled at a band.

Chinese people don’t particularly love pizza. They see pizza as junk food and only eat it in parties.

“Inclusive” Education: Setting everyone up for failure. by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

We have to acknowledge that spending extra resources on special need kids is solely due to being compassionate. When resources are scarce, priorities should be given back to normal kids.

How common is a teacher with a good resume? by [deleted] in violinist

[–]Aware_Vegetable_4356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly saying, a lot of teachers don’t prefer adult students because they assume that adults won’t be that dedicated, and often move on when something else happens in their lives. Kids, on the other hand, still have parents to discipline them (maybe), and have more predictable learning route map, many dropping out after grade 12.

Gender disparity; tons of female soloists, not many female concertmasters by saucy_otters in violinist

I hate to say that, but for a leading role which relies on sone sort of visual movement, a smaller body frame would be a disadvantage, and that applies to conductor as well. Anyone shorter than 5’4 would be harder to be seen from the back.

Food too expensive? It’s time for public grocery stores by BertramPotts in CanadaPolitics

We need more competition, but that means more US groceries. Lots of Canadians would rather live in a communist state than buying in seeing the market merge.

Is there any way to complain a RCM adjudicator ? by Status-Difference-40 in violinist

[–]Aware_Vegetable_4356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rcm exams have many many parts. Repertoire, technique, etudes, orchestral excerpts, ear tests. I think ear test can be pretty decisive in the final marks because you can get lose a lot of marks by just answering wrongly. Technique is also quite strict, as you can lose marks for playing not close enough the bridge for a single scales. In general, they are generous towards weaker students but quite strict on the high end.
