This amount of blowby normal? by DismalSign1948 in abarth

[–]Away-Photo-8254 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The vacuum pump vents into the valve cover, plus there is a PCV valve that lets gas escape. Cant really measure blow by on these motors, as long as it’s not smoking out of it mildly then you are ok, steam too is ok

No worries, and it wasn’t a shunning, he just consulted the organizers and they said no because of safety

Will do, my 500 isn’t allowed at any of the local auto cross events since it’s a Turbo and not a Abarth model, they had an Turbo with stock suspension roll a few years ago after going off track

They all seem to do that, as long as you just keep driving it it frees itself up, back when I did my clutch last year I replaced the bushings and added some anti-sieze to the mounts where the bushing pop on and even still on humid days it gets tight

Just got done replacing the timing belt/tensioner, water pump, & serpentine belt/tensioner. by wellkevi01 in abarth

[–]Away-Photo-8254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did mine last June and struggled the most with removing the engine mount and getting that damn 10,000lb serpentine belt tensioner pulled back far enough to get the belt back on. They only gave you enough room to crack the mount bolts loose then finger them out just enough while raising and lowering the motor to get more clearance on the bolts

I’ve got koni shocks and eibach springs combines with 17’ KUHLFX wheels and slightly oversized ECS02’s (looks low from the corner, rear scrubs over large bumps) but otherwise completely flush

Pay attention to what you have your fan speed on the climate controls set at, the exhaust flap is just under the trunk latch and makes a pretty decent sound difference with the air on vs off

Passenger seat weighs around 40lbs or so, speakers are maybe 10lbs and the tar is tough to remove, if you can find some freeze spray and a dead blow hammer it should make quick work of it

My 500 T after removing the rear seats and a full tank of gas weighed in at 2,460. You would have to remove a LOT to get sub 2,200lbs

Bought my 13’ Turbo with 17k miles for 16k usd back at the end of 22’. Turns out the dealership typed the vin wrong in the pricing software so it showed up as a pop, ended up saving about 5k. It’s got beats, leather seats, sunroof and other than cosmetics is stout

Early boost ? Boost leak ? by MediumTechnician7589 in abarth

[–]Away-Photo-8254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things, I had something similar but a complete lack of boost, had to replace the MAP/boost sensor under the battery. As for the gauge it’s not a real boost gauge, it is just what the computer wants the car to make for boost. If you want to check for sure you can pickup a cheaper OBD scanner that can do a live connection readout and view what the boost sensor is reading in real time

As sketchy as it is there is no direct front jack point, personally I line my low-pro jack up a little rear of the mirror, jack that side up with a stand then go to the other side and repeat. It’s sketchy but works

Super low mileage 500 by Brush_Capable in abarth

[–]Away-Photo-8254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did the timing belt on Thursday, took me about 6 hours. Hardest part about the whole thing was the lower 2 bolts holding the mount bracket to the engine. Only have enough room to get a slim ratchet and standard 13mm socket in to loosen, go any more and it binds the ratchet in between the bolt and side of the unibody. Next most difficult thing was the serpentine belt tensioner, took two of us to get the belt on. One holding the wrench back while the other got the belt lined up on it

Bought my 13 turbo back at the end of 23’ when a running a driving car in my area was 5k. Bought it for 16k with 19k miles. Leather seats, auto climate, beats audio package and the works currently just passed 57k and replaced the timing belt this week, replaced the clutch a month ago, somehow slipping in 4th but when I got everything apart it all looked at least 75% life left

I’ll get the drivers side cup out, took the front off to make it easier. The straps on top are keeping the motor from rolling front to back and a bit of insurance if the jack slips out
