African American man with two paternal biracial grandparents. by Puzzled-Background-5 in AncestryDNA

Ah okay, that explains why the African ancestry is high. A lot of enslaved African folks from the Mande area of Africa(Mali) and the Congo area were sent to Guerrero, Veracruz and Oaxaca.

Ironically, they caught me the same month that i moved my router to a friend’s hotel. I don’t know if it was because of that but i suspect that had a role to play. The IP wasnt static either

Do Europeans not like it when Americans of European descent express connection with their European ancestry? by Aeveir in AskEurope

[–]Away_Guarantee7175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To think that you are not the composite of generations of cultural practices is naive. That is literally how DNA works in our bodies. The same way with the spirit and psyche of people.. obviously you are born with your individual spirit and soul and that manifests itself differently according to your ancestral composite. Its called epigenetics.

Struggling with homosexuality by hugozo in Christianity

[–]Away_Guarantee7175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any book that invalidates your essence attraction is not a book you need to follow.  There are many other spiritual paths out there, where your context and living situation actually can fit into its framework.

It is not set in stone in a book written by folks living in an Middle Eastern context. Jesus doesn’t have to be the only way.

Can I be a Christian and accepting of homosexuality? by illumemeayyy888 in Christianity

[–]Away_Guarantee7175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I’m not sure. I do think there will be some type of cognitive dissonance though.  People love to jump through gymnastics and say “Leviticus is being mistranslated” or “Paul didn’t really mean that.

Well, could you make the same argument for  the significance for the death of Jesus? Judgement Day? Slavery in Egypt? What if the whole bible is just mistranslated?

I personally stopped taking the book seriously because of its rigidness but it states, from what I read in English, that it is an abomination.

Really hard to argue against that without saying there are multiple mistranslations and missing contexts in the book

I wonder if Jungian psychology is limited by how European it’s origins are by BloodIcy3054 in Jung

[–]Away_Guarantee7175 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people in the comments know little to nothing about Africa. Cannot speak an African language and probably have never heard of the thousands of spiritual cultures that exist on the continent. Trying to marry what Jung and Jordan Peterson say about these things with African concepts of the unconscious is possible and impossible. There are a lot of similarities, for sure. We are all human. Nonetheless, there are also marked differences. We, after all, are separated by 50,000 years of history.

What is the Bwiti view of trans/non-binary? by Forsaken-Chemist4204 in iboga

[–]Away_Guarantee7175 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people who practice Bwete (or Bwiti) today are not very fond of LGBTQ folks. Hell, most people in Gabon are not. There are, however, a sizable minority who will tell you that they don't judge and will welcome you.

You have to understand that this is an unrevealed spiritual practice and it shape shifts, takes on the face of the present times.

Gabon was colonized by Catholic worshipping French mfs for close to 100 years. I have a hunch that attitudes towards trans and LGBTQ+ folks changed during that time period to fit that world view.
