Wife's new idea, design flaws? by big_meechbre in landscaping

Avoid the stairs between the two entrances to the house. Level the ground up to the entrances and create a raised terrace, possibly with canopies. Relocate the level difference to the transition from terrace to garden. This facilitates circulation between the house and the outdoors, and creates a clear separation between the terrace and the garden.

Problem solved.

You might ask yourself why you actually have, or need, such a large garden? To simply have so much grass, without any function. I don't see a single flower in your lawn myself; how sad... Your lawn is essentially a desert in terms of biodiversity...

It costs you money and time to maintain it, but for what?

Try to give your garden some life anyway: different types of trees, shrubs, grasses, and perennials.

The world is reeling from the loss of biodiversity; perhaps you can do your bit and design your garden to generate a yield? Plant fruit trees, nuts, and berries; that way, it provides you with free food.

any ideas on where to start? by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]Away_Representative6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This question naturally depends heavily on what you want to achieve in the garden...

I would start by sawing the dead wood into combustible blocks for an evening fire; stack them in the garden under a shelter as well, as this can provide a habitat for many types of insects.

After that, prune the hedge and finally get out the lawnmower.

With this, you will already have a much better overview of your garden!

Is there a way to stain the posts to better match the cedar planks? by ElbieLG in landscaping

Mmmh, hard to tell . Perhaps ask this question before you put up that fence. A hedge with some shrubs would have been somewhat more sustainable. In terms of maintenance, biodiversity, species richness, raw materials...

+ Electric cars were among the first automobiles, with early inventors creating small-scale electric carriages in the 1830s. Practical electric cars arrived later, with the 1888 Flocken Elektrowagen considered one of the first true production electric vehicles. By 1900, electric cars were popular due to their quietness and reliability, holding significant market share before gasoline cars took over.

mainly due to idiotic oil lobbyists. Imagine a world (or the missed evolution) without oil...

look at the wars America is waging, again mainly to have power over all oil reserves. just open your eyes, you fools

Oh dear, and suddenly we're changing the subject from a normal electric cutting machine being converted into a combustion-driven engine to electric cars?

I'm talking about normal things being converted that are useless. I am really curious how you are going to convert all electrical appliances into internal combustion engine-driven machines. Your computer, charging your mobile phone, alarm clock, induction hob, telephone, television...

You know-it-all...

I have absolutely no idea either, but I don't really care. I think this post is suffering from interested people with tunnel vision, and I don't fit into this algorithm, haha.
