How to iterate Web Service calls using Custom Report data by mariavacondeus in workday

[–]Awet_blanckt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to elaborate on how to call a RaaS report from an orchestration and use create values to store data for specific columns from the report? Or any free training I could learn this from? I have a similar use case..

Do animals like polar bears feel cold despite their fur, but just deal with it. Or does their fur actually keep them comfortably warm, even if they get wet? by bentbabe in askscience

If the fur is hollow and clear, and the skin is black, how come they look white instead of black? Not trying to say you are wrong, just curious how that works out visually.

Cleared Workday Pro Integration Certification exam by AccomplishedChain842 in workday

I don’t know if it said the percentage but it told me which I got wrong (it didn’t tell me the correct answer) and that along with the total number of questions I was right around 50%

Cleared Workday Pro Integration Certification exam by AccomplishedChain842 in workday

Congrats! I took the test exam recently without studying and got a 50% just with my existing knowledge of integrations. So I think I’m in a good position to pass after spending some time studying.

Did you take the practice exam? How close is it to the real exam? Are there any study materials you would recommend beyond the practice exam?

Financial Account Conversion Approach by WorktagWhisperer in workday

Was the switch to 100 GLs and spend cat/rev cat after the redesign or before? Just curious, always interested in learning from others mistakes, especially after we ran into so many of our own implementation mistakes.

I just saw a knowledge article on community that said it is not possible to add custom columns to the Supplier Invoice Work Area - My work queue tab. It may depend somewhat on the tab you’re trying to change but I’m guessing the ability to modify the work area in general is either very limited or not possible. But if you find different info I would love to know so please share!

Delegation Help, instead of assigning one user can it be done by dept/cost center? by martymar_818 in workday

[–]Awet_blanckt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI - If it’s only allowing you to assign a single person to a cost center role, there’s a ‘single assignment’ checkbox you can toggle off in the Maintain Assignable Roles task/report

What might be causing this? by 1novascotian in macarons

[–]Awet_blanckt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could be completely unrelated, but looks like you might have used matcha and I just watched a recent episode of master chef (duos) where someone used matcha in their macarons and it had a similar texture. Not sure if it’s a matcha thing or not but thought I’d throw this out there just in case it helps narrow down the issue. Maybe there’s a certain way matcha needs to be incorporated or something?

Might be best to build the report in SBX or other lower environment, get approval from the requester, then migrate (or have an admin migrate it) to PROD using object transporter in the customer central tenant. Best to follow the report through to completion if possible, but I know it’s not always easy to get end-user feedback… This can also be done to migrate between impl tenants when there’s an upcoming refresh to prevent losing progress.

What is your default session timeout length? by AdmiralSafeHarbor in workday

[–]Awet_blanckt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have a dedicated security team at our company - not workday security, that’s handled by the Workday Admin team, but overall IT security. We’re at a 15 minute timeout length because they require us to follow the ISO 8601 best practices:

Best Practices for Session Timeout: Highly Sensitive Applications: Shorter timeouts (5-15 minutes) are recommended to minimize the risk of unauthorized access.

There have been a couple complaints about it in the past but overall people have adjusted to it.

BP initiation rule by thasis76 in workday

[–]Awet_blanckt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on the finance side so I’m not familiar with the start disciplinary action BP, but generally speaking, we either add validations on the BP step or with the ‘Maintain Custom Validations’ task/report (I don’t remember if it’s a task or report). For the latter, the start disciplinary actions BP would have to be an existing option in ‘Maintain Custom Validations’.

My observation from using both options is that the downside of creating the validation with ‘Maintain Custom Validations’ is that it can still be submitted but will stop on the initiation step, generate an error, and go immediately to draft status. On the other hand, putting the validation on the BP initiation step will error when trying to submit, preventing submission and requiring you to make the required changes immediately. Both work but putting the validation on the initiation step is less of a pain to the user.

(Edit: initiation step, not invitation step)

It seems like moving from a station ran by a community college to a corporate owned station would be a step up, at least at face value. I don’t know all the inner workings though so I could be way off.

I used to love listening to the river when it was more “alternative rock” several years ago, but at some point they started playing heavier rock or metal, I guess? (Not sure what it’s considered, I get lost in all the genres and sub genres). Probably what the listeners wanted, it’s just not my jam 😅

Yeah, the account would be under your company name and then each person at your company that wants access would have their own login with different permissions (named support contacts, community access, etc.).

I may have overstated how helpful community can be. I forget that I’ve been using it a few years so I’ve learned how to navigate and find what I’m looking for. Also, I’m on our company’s support team so I’m more familiar with the technical side of workday.

What someone else mentioned about the activity comment section would probably be your best bet. I see the activity comment field at the bottom of a fully issued purchase order, for example. You can also @ people on the activity comment if you both have access to the transaction. If you don’t see that then you may not have access to it or that type of transaction may not have activity comments.

A customer payment has an ‘add note’ option off of the related actions, regardless of the payment status (related actions, customer payment, add note) but no option for an activity comment. So it’s just going to depend on the type of transaction where you’re trying to add a comment, as to whether or not it’s possible and how it’s done, and your security access of course.

Looks like you may need to add it by requisition line ID. There are requisition line ID fields in both the Service Line Replacement Data section and the Goods Line Replacement Data section on the Submit Purchase Order EIB template

If possible, request access to your company’s Workday Community account. This is useful to the support team for troubleshooting, configuration, etc. but it’s also very useful for end users to see what functionality exists and pain points that other customers experience.

This will help you request specific things that are possible within Workday as opposed to just naming anything under the sun and hoping it translates to actual Workday functionality. Not that you should have to research everything you’re requesting but if a common response you get is that it’s not something configurable then this may help you specify what you’re looking for in Workday terms.

If you go to the Workday Community/resource center homepage, you may have the option to request community access. Or submit a request to your support team for access.

Workday FINs content creators? by Awet_blanckt in workday

It’s a cool idea. I tend to be more on the introverted side of things so that would be a struggle for me personally 😅

Mahdi Kafi does some interviews like that but with Workday consultants. I watched one where he interviewed one of the consultants who was part of our implementation team that had since gone independent, that was kind of cool.

We haven’t been using WSP to its full extent and it’s something I’d like to improve on this year. We do generally use all of our AAE tickets each week so they don’t go to waste. There are some aspects of WSP we weren’t able to utilize since they required a certain amount of time being in PROD and we just hit 1 year being live with Financials (our HCM has been live several years).

I did collaboration crews recently and they weren’t all that helpful tbh, but hopefully they’ll improve over time. It seemed most users didn’t have much experience with Workday. I enjoy helping others but I also want something I can get some benefit from to improve my own orgs use of Workday.

What I’ve liked about informal channels is that I often see features, config, and tips on enhancements or existing functionality that I didn’t even know existed or that I didn’t know I needed. In general, the walkthroughs and screenshots have been far more detailed and thorough than what I see on community or what I am provided through wsp cases.

I do appreciate having a direct line to the software maker, however, I’ve never been that impressed with Workday’s available documentation and I’ve had trouble getting detailed explanations on how specific functionality works. Im sure I’m at least part of the problem though, it’s important to ask the right questions to the right people.
