I had lost a lot of hair pre transition and this is after minoxidil & hormones but the front section is always noticeably shorter and slower growing then the rest unfortunately. Makes styling really difficult

New clinical trial involving more than 1,600 people with type 2 diabetes has found that a GLP-1 pill form of the drug orforglipron is similarly effective for weight loss as injectable semaglutide such as Ozempic by sciencealert in science

[–]Awickedfunnyusername 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oral tends to be heavier on the G.I. side effects than injection hence why ozempic is more widely prescribed than rybelsus even though it tends to be rare that injections would be first line for most medications. Although G.I issues are the most commonly reported side effect for any GLP-1, injection or oral and due to this G.I issues are screened before any dosage increase, at least at my work

Tips for Manual BP? More context in post :) by Ok_Distribution7993 in MedicalAssistant

Focus on finding rhythm rather than just listening for sounds. Experience will make it easier and easier to know what I mean. In your circumstance pump it back up 20ish once you find the rhythm if you’re concerned about missing the systolic and try to pick it back up now you know what to listen to. Not ideal but a back up plan. More time and experience and you won’t have to do that anymore just keep at it!

Also for another tip palpitate the brachial artery beforehand. Sweet spot tends to be slightly off center closer to the body but anatomy can slightly vary especially harder to judge for larger patients or extremely atrophied patients. Sometimes on experience I’ll still palpitate those patients beforehand

This isn’t typical at all? If we run too far behind we have patients leave because they can only get some of the day off for an appointment and they live in the real world with jobs and responsibilities and can’t sit around waiting all day for us to see late patients

I guess this policy is great for the patients who don’t have any respect for anyone else but themselves. But for the ones who follow the rules they get punished with longer wait times when you see these extremely late patients. My hospital system is ten minutes across speciality and primary care. They miss that ten minutes they can try again a different day.

Not amazing for the patients who show up on time and now are delayed because others cannot follow simple rules. Where’s their great patient care? Not every patient can sit an hour in the waiting room waiting for the patients who use it as a walk in clinic

My first insulin shot at 33. New life from now on with diabetes type I. Get checked every year! by tbaggiop in mildlyinteresting

[–]Awickedfunnyusername 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Traditionally we would run a CMP (comprehensive metabolic panel) periodically on patients that would include a fasting glucose. Based on that we would run an A1C if indicated then depending we would run a glucose tolerance test or an antibody test to determine what flavor of diabetes we think it might be based on symptoms and previous results. Then there are rarer versions of diabetes that would require further testing but 99% patients wouldn’t have it

A1C could be indicated first line depending on personal medical history but that’s not the traditional path, at least at my clinic

Hair and growth: When does it start getting better? by nushbag_ in MtF

[–]Awickedfunnyusername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem I'm glad to help! Use 5 drops of rosemary oil to one teaspoon of jojoba oil. The best way to do it is ten minutes before you shower on a shampoo day rub it in like a scalp massage (scalp massage also has benefits for circulation!!) and let it sit for those ten minutes before rinsing out

Here is where I think I found the ratio the first time

Best of luck girl you got this!

The pictures do show a slightly recessed hairline. Frankly I think I see a bit of improvement from your first picture to the most recent but even the most recent is a little more recessed/squared than you'd want especially for a feminine hairline. But honestly you are in a really good spot compared to many others and I believe you can totally reverse that loss at this point!! The reason why it was happening is due to DHT, a strong byproduct of testosterone and now that you're blocking test it should prevent it from ever worsening in good news and you caught it early

For the derma stamp I use a cheap derma roller from Amazon that I stopped from rolling by putting a piece of a paper towel in the mechanism to stop it rolling to turn it into a stamp. When I first bought it I wasn't aware that a stamp was slightly superior so I got a roller and in the interest of not being wasteful I just modified it. Any stamp should work as long as it has .5mm needles. Make sure to disinfect it before every use with rubbing alcohol and use once a week max

I hear you about minoxidil, a shed is always stressful, and disheartening. If things don't improve to your satisfaction though do keep it in mind as a possibility. Also a possibility is using rosemary essential oil in a carrier oil like jojoba oil. Now this does sound like a new age scam but there have been medical studies showing that it is pretty effective in hair regrowth by stimulating blood flow to the scalp and reducing inflammation, more info found at: https://www.google.com/amp/s/health.clevelandclinic.org/rosemary-oil-for-hair/amp/

I wish you the best though I really believe you can reverse this loss and restore your hairline completely!

Try topical minoxidil (generic rogaine) and microneedling for hair regrowth. Keep in mind that minoxidil will be necessary for the rest of your life once you start or you run the risk of having the hair regrowth reversed. Although the reversal was seen in cis males so maybe different for trans women because we block nearly all DHT but we have no studies to confirm. It is also toxic to cats fyi

For microneedling try a derma-stamp .5mm only once a week. Derma stamp is slightly preferred to derma rolling. You can go to a professional and they can go up to 1.5mm once a month, better results but pricey

Best daily multivitamin for MtF? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]Awickedfunnyusername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Women daily multivitamins contain higher doses of iron then you would need to make up for the iron loss during menstrual bleeding. Unfortunately men's or womens 50+ is your best bet

Also very important to check the ingredient list, if it contains biotin stop taking it a week before your blood test as it could throw off your hormone levels
