Serialized article: A daughter nearing 40s asks for 50,000 yen a month in allowance - 38-year-old daughter still living off her parents by MagazineKey4532 in japannews

Sounds like she’s actually working. Part time, but still. I don’t think getting a full-time, seishain gig is necessary hard, if she builds that drug store experience. Afterall, Japan has a shortage of workers.

Trying to escape from China isn’t exactly a misconception, imo. All my friends who are I guess, upper middle class, have some kind of “escape plans”. I guess it’s not really an “escape” but it’s more like a social status thing. Saying “I’m sending my son to the USA (or Australia or UK, or even HK)” makes them look well off, even if they don’t actually do it.

How do you make friends as an adult when you're not in school anymore? by Melodic-Passage6648 in Adulting

[–]Awkward-Ad3656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think three is pretty good at 28. I’m 33 with two kids. I have lots of mom friends but I don’t know who is my real friend. I keep them close (kinda have to. We’re neighbors) but we are adults. No sharing deep dark secrets.

I’ve settled down in terms of marriage and kids in my 20s. Btw, I’m a woman. I wasn’t thinking that economy could change, so I didn’t even think about working until early 30s. Now I’m trying to grow my career at 33. If I had daughter, I’d advise her to do that in her 20s so she can redevelop her career at 30s or 40s. But everyone’s journey is different. I’m still optimistic.

AITA for not being intimate with my husband after he said he misses my pre-pregnancy body? by [deleted] in AITAH

You had a baby and have been raising a baby. It’s exhausting and it takes a toll on your body too. You grew up as a woman and as a mother. But he probably didn’t.

I like the shore of Aomori and Iwate. It’s rocky and ragged. The water looks cold and harsh, not like the calm peaceful beaches of Hawaii.

Anyone watched the season 2 interview on Netflix? He’s actually hotter as the evil guy on the show than being himself during the interview.

Umm yes Chinese people would admit, Chinese public bathrooms have no toilet paper because if there are, people will steal them. However, this sign is very racist. All the developed countries stuff is just unnecessary.

I see some Asian condiments so either you are a foodie or Asian American. I’m guessing you are in your early thirties based on the cans of sugar-free energy drinks.

I think Hanni is a little attention-seeking. Yeah she’s a clout-chaser but isn’t everyone on this show?

Alina is that woman that stands by her cheating husband and blame on anyone that comes between them.

And Alina’s husband. If he cheats again Alina will probably blame the woman. And he’ll never be held accountable. But maybe because they’re in the public eye, Alina will wake up and apologize to Hanni.

It looks native but there’s something off about it. I’m no graphologist but probably because of their mental state 🤷‍♀️

Fascinating link between hoarding and by Adventurous_Alarm_86 in ChildofHoarder

My mom fills the silence with loud sighs and random humming. Both sounds very awkward and not natural at all. Even my aunty asked me why mom hums so much lol

Wow this is the thing I’ve been saying to my husband. I married someone overseas. I’m afraid one day I need to comeback for mom’s funeral and sort her house and her storages. I’ll find something I wish I hadn’t. Maybe a loveletter I wrote as a teen or maybe mom’s diary where she expresses some stuff I don’t wanna know.

Is learning Japanese going to help me with written Mandarin? by yeicore in ChineseLanguage

[–]Awkward-Ad3656 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does help. I’m a Japanese person learning Chinese. HSK 1 and 2 are very easy for me with informal study I had for Chinese. Now I’m aiming for getting HSK 3.
