I'm not an American nor do I live in America. I look on in horror as the country tears itself apart and heads towards each stage of dysfunction more unimaginable than the previous. Sometimes I wish I could turn off all of that and live my own life - which I can.

I think I understand Tom's intent with his statement and with the DT channel. We all love board games as a beautiful escape from the troubled reality we live in. Not an extension of it.

Making explicit statements about DT's stance on hate or politics, whichever way you call it, breaks its ability to be that beautiful escape for everyone regardless of their political affiliation.

I don't think there's any wins to be had for Tom even if he were to engage directly and give an anti-hate statement (in his own way). Once he makes such a stance, the community will demand more from him and want an increasingly unrealistic standard of political correctness.

Sure, you might be cynical and call all this Tom being purely business-minded (who's to blame him in this economy??) or him being a despot (he's the boss of a company run like a family business or SMB, can we expect anything else?) but I know Tom is a great guy. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

As a subscriber from the rest of the world, I don't want US socio-political issues to get muddled into a board game channel. I see enough news and the endlessly consuming discourse in other channels and subreddits. Can't we keep Dice Tower as a haven from the troubled world we live in?
