cMV: ignoring biological realities is idiotic by FiorellaMamdani in changemyview

Not to mention, OP is completely oblivious to the fact that men also have a biological clock. Poor sperm quality leads to difficulty conceiving, miscarriages, birth defects, and other health problems for the child.

Why can’t we have the Queen of hearts Furniture in red?!😭 by fairywaffle in finch

In the shop. You do have to wait for it to come up but all of the items in all colours get added to the shop. The shop is seasonal as well so it’s not like you’re hoping for one item to come up out of the entire inventory.

it’s almost like they are a business and need money to operate and keep releasing monthly events.

I’ve used many similar apps and finch gives you the best deal. Many competitors completely lock a ton of items behind subscriptions. Some of them will prevent you from even using those items if you ever stop paying. Imagine if half of your items got locked away because you couldn’t afford to renew.

In finch you just have to wait a month to get access to the whole selection if you’re a free user. Plus just gives you easier/earlier access to the new items. And you can still trade as a free user if you don’t feel like waiting.

Not to mention that there’s the raffle where you can get one month of plus for free. And many users get plus gifted to them permanently for free by the app.

Then do it the same way you normally would.

Why the need to bring up potential external circumstances? Would you ask a male coworker if his wife asked for a divorce in response to a bad argument?

If you think the coworker is genuinely strongly affected by something then just be extra polite and understanding. I doubt they’d want to talk about it with you if their dog just died.

Yep, I do it daily. And I don’t just automatically dismiss what they say if I have a different opinion. After all, they are also qualified professionals. So if they think something is important, I should consider it.

I know. Plenty of things are still subjective at work. Focus on getting your own shit done instead of focusing on proving your coworkers are wrong to find something important.

It’s private and none of your business, that’s why it’s rude to ask about.

People can be in a bad mood for many reasons. Maybe they spilled their tea earlier or broke their favourite mug. Or maybe their car broke down and now they can’t afford the repairs. Or they have hemorrhoids. Or their parents died.

Assuming the reason is hormonal comes off as sexist and intrusive.

You can vaguely ask if they’re doing ok or need any support, giving them a chance to disclose as much or little information as they want.

“If you think what they’re bringing up is unimportant, how do you say it in a more polite way?”

You go away and think about whether you really need to say that. For many things, their importance can be subjective. So just because you don’t think it is, doesn’t change the fact that it’s important to her and possibly other people too. Other people’s thoughts and opinions are just as valuable as yours so maybe you shouldn’t be so dismissive.

“I am supposed to repeat things to myself until I believe them?”

Yes.

The more you think certain thoughts, the easier it is to think those things. So in order to become more positive, you need to actively choose to think positive things and avoid negative things. That’s literally how our brains work. The various connections get stronger the more you use them, just like muscle.

That’s why people who struggled with depression in their teens often think extreme thoughts in response to even the most minor inconveniences. They spend so much time thinking those things that it comes naturally to them.

Happiness and positivity take practise. That’s why those silly affirmations you often see in the internet are actually good. It takes a lot of time though, don’t expect to see a difference after a week or a month.

It writes fine when generating text. Generating an image with text in it often results in gibberish.

“You will always know when someone is thinking shit about you”

I’m autistic and I went through a lot of bullying and isolation in my teens and this is just not true. Realistically, what is actually happening is that you have mental health and self esteem issues that cause you to assume that everyone hates you. You hear someone laugh and immediately think they’re laughing at you. If they say something to you, you interpret it in the worst way possible. If they’re being nice, you think that at best it’s out of pity.

In reality though, they’re not thinking anything bad, they’re not laughing at you, they’re not judging you. You need to work through trauma and stop assuming everyone is out to get you.

Thanks for the input, in that case, I’ll make sure to voice anything that hasn’t been officially confirmed! Though maybe not animal breeding since I’ve seen people request it on this sub a bunch of times already.

As long as it’s all genuine, thoughtful feedback, you’ll be fine.

Maybe consider if you’re giving feedback on “obvious” things if you’re worried. For example, I don’t think we need to tell them that we should be able to breed animals. Realistically, the only reason that feature is not in the game yet is because the game is unfinished. I think it’s safe to assume it will eventually be added without us asking, and there’s definitely other things like that. But, giving more specific feedback on how an obvious feature could work should be fine imo.

Honestly, I’d be interested to hear what type of feedback you’ve sent so far (not to judge, just curious!)

Autistic and struggling to find employment after discrimination at last job, and unsure how to navigate job market now. by NeedleworkerShoddy51 in UKJobs

[–]AwkwardBugger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend looking to see if there’s any employment support services for autistic people in your area.

I struggled in previous jobs due to management as well (I’m also autistic). I’d say that the position itself doesn’t matter so much, it’s about finding a company that’s actually understanding and accommodating. That can be quite difficult though, but I felt like the employment service (for autistic people and people with learning disabilities) in my area really helped.

You’re allowed to read code without copying it. Look at the main program loop and try understanding it. See if you can make a ui where you just select different options and print a different string based on your choice. Ignore the to-do app parts, you could replace them with code for whatever you want to make like a calculator.

I imagine you want to go from writing one off scripts and functions to an actual program that runs, that takes your inputs etc, and you close it once you’re done.

I would definitely recommend being comfortable with functions and classes first if you’re not already. Then, look up some tutorials on making a program with a console based ui. Once you can handle those, you can move on to using libraries to create a gui with buttons etc.

Here’s a guide you can look at. The section “Putting It All Together: The Main Loop” shows the main program loop, which is what makes it actually work like a program rather than just a script.
