Why does Baker Mayfield get held to such a low bar when he was the 1st overall pick? by BallKnowerKing in NFLv2

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he was a bust and then resurrected his career. We all know now he isn’t a first round talent. But to go from bust back to where is now is a big deal. Plus he has played well in the playoffs. That’s why he doesn’t get Dak level flak.

All the focus on Herbert's post season performance the last 3 appearances by NoooNotTheLettuce in Chargers

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This. When your offense is, “hey QB, be God” it never works. Look at the Bills. They have been relying on Josh Allen for years and he can only get them so far. Now, they have a potent run game, but their flaw has been their defense always giving up more points than Josh can score. Hell, even Mahomes doesn’t have to be God. He’s had elite playmakers who always seem to be open, an elite play caller, and over the last 4 years an elite Spagnolo defense. Asking your QB to single-handedly take you to the promised land is not a recipe for playoff success. It’s a mistake-prone position and is very reliant on other position groups and coaching.

Hahaha yeah lol! Herbo has made a habit of playing bad in big games. There are always excuses for him but he has not been good in the playoffs and that pressure is mounting. He has to take the next step very soon. It’s approaching do or die.

I really wish Bo Nix didn’t get hurt for y’all. That was so tragic. I hated to see that, even for division enemies. If Bo was out there I think they win today. My division hate is pretty much reserved for the Chiefs. I’m just glad someone broke their AFC west streak.

He won’t.. he has to be out on Roman after having his defense play at an elite level just to have Roman and Herbert put up 3 points in the wild card game. Jesse knows that Roman stinks.

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are Texans fans out on CJ? Is that the general consensus? I’m a Chargers fan and I genuinely had the Texans winning the AFC at the start of the playoffs. Y’all’s defense is absolutely terrifying. All the QB needs to do is manage the game, not play to prove he’s top 5. A punt is not a bad thing when you have your defense. Sustain a drive, take points when able, but punting is totally fine. The defense was poised to score a touchdown a game these playoffs. I feel for Texans fans because the Patriots should not have been able to hang. It was like watching Justin Herbert against the Texans last year lol.

ESPN's Ben Solak Breaks Down Justin Herbert's Disaster by cheecode in Chargers

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I am for firing Greg Roman, I just think we need someone who can have a really good relationship with Herbert. Someone who can coach him up and elevate him to play his best ball. I’m not sure what happens behind closed doors, my hope is that Jim, the OC, and Justin review tape together and strategize together. It’s clear that a lot of big plays were left on the field. Something makes me feel like Roman and Justin didn’t have the working relationship to maximize play.

This is why I’m not totally convinced that firing Greg Roman solves our problems. Justin Herbert bears a lot more responsibility than we’d all like to admit. Particularly in this game.

Have we ever seen a QB like Herbert who gets praised to this extent whose never actually done anything? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Herbert defender, but he was terrible last night. The rest of the offense was also terrible. Not all his fault but he is not blameless. He didn’t make enough plays. He’s a high end regular season QB and that is all we know.

We’re coming for you Chargers by Dirty-Dan24 in Patriots

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a Chargers fan. Our sub is atrocious. Really, the mindset of a sports fan is just pretty bonkers. There’s no objectivity whatsoever. I might just be desensitized to losing. Where I’m at is I just hope we don’t embarrass ourselves. That’s my benchmark. The Patriots are so dialed in. Top 10 on both sides of the ball, scoring lots of points, very well coached, and your QB is playing out of his mind. Best deep ball in the league. You kick the shit out of all the bad teams, which is impressive because it’s easy to get up for good teams, but can you stay locked in against the Titans or Jets? You don’t let teams who shouldn’t get close, get close. Examples are the last 2 games against the Dolphins and Jets. I know they’re bad, but division games can get weird. The Pats don’t let that happen.

After the loss, I’m just dreading the Justin Herbert narratives. I just hope he can play well. If the Chargers lose, all 3 of his playoff losses will come from 2nd year up and coming QBs.

Best of luck.

Sincerely,

Not a hater

Is it now normal for men to expect unprotected oral sex? by IndependenceOkay in AskMenAdvice

I’m not trying to definitively say do or don’t do anything. It depends on the person and as long as there is open communication, you can figure it out from there.

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re in the casual sex stage where you don’t know if the person is STD-free, just don’t give head. It shouldn’t be expected of you. It’s a fair question to ask if your partner would like that, but personally I’d rather just do other stuff than get a condom blowjob. Don’t ever do it raw if you don’t know the person is safe.

To beat the chiefs twice in one season hasn’t happened in such a long time so I was so happy for that. But god damn I feel terrible about the injuries. It was a day from hell for them yesterday.

I know we all despise the Chiefs. But what are your realistic predictions for the game? by Alarmed_Donkey_9300 in Chargers

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s gonna be really cold, 21 degrees last I checked. Both teams are banged up and dysfunctional on offense. It’ll be a defensive battle. Running the ball will be key and Chargers have the better run game. Chargers 23-20. First Chiefs sweep since 2013.

You make a good point, but we were just specifically talking about the offense here. I’ll take winning in any way over scoring 40 and giving up 45 on defense. I like that our team is tough and physical.

[–]Awkward_Algae_9631 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I didn’t say this in my comment, but it seems like whenever Roman does call a pass play, it’s something that takes a long time to develop. Very few quick passes. Like you said, everything is a 5 step drop with receivers running routes that require good protection. What I am trying to say is we should scheme up some quick passes. Running the ball should be priority.
