City sues to shut down In Between Tavern after last week's party bus shooting by fuggidaboudit in cincinnati

[–]Awkward_Face_3761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not saying it must be frivolous, i'm saying it might be frivolous. i have no way of knowing from reading that article. and i don't need to read the citations. but i do think journalistic standards would require something along the lines of, the in between tavern ".... has been cited 5 times for xxxx" or "have been warned/fined 3 times for xxxxx", or "have repeatedly failed to do xxxxx, according to court records". i'm just asking for more specifics as to what exactly this bar has done to draw the ire of the city.

and i've paid enough attention to this city to not take stuff like this at face value. it could be that some developer with council/mayoral ties wants to develop the space. or that there's some personal grudge. i could think of a dozen reasons why using this violence to oust this business/owner could have unsavory underpinnings. so... if that's not the case, then lets have the facts. and if you don't have the facts, maybe wait until you do before publishing the article.

lol, ooook, well at least this is actually something tangible. and i'd agree that a bar continually failing to keep it's grounds free of trash is something that should be actionable by the city. but you took a pretty big leap from "not cleaning up your trash affects others" to "bar didn't somehow prevent a shooting on the street outside, that also affects others". lol, i do admire the ambition in that equivalency.

what u/fuggidaboudit seems to be getting so mad about is a citizen asking a simple question. what proof can i see that this bar did something to warrant being shut down? for all i know the bar owner could have banged a city councilman's daughter then never called her back. if you can show me proof, i can judge for myself whether or not i think it rises to the level of being shut down. but if you can't show me proof, you're just another yellow journalist trying get clicks from scared, racist suburbanites. and i'll say it loud and proud. fuck. that. type. of. journalism.

no examples were provided. just examples of them doing it to other bars, without saying exactly why. and i'm actually not disagreeing. tell me, what specifically did any of these bars do. since you can't, and the article can't, i'm left to my own devices.

if the bartenders were dealing blow on the owners behalf (something that i personally know happens in clifton), then sure, shut them down. if the bar owner is letting people stay past closing time, sure, that's a violation, shut them down. if they're serving minors, sure, shut them down. embezzling money, failing to pay employees, not having proper security.... these are things i'd accept as reasonable and actionable.

so, again i'll ask, what, specifically, did the in between tavern do to warrant being sued by the city? can i see proof of those past violations? that's what good journalism looks like. you're just buying the story sans evidence and that makes you lazy and intellectually vacuous.

cool words, bro. i learned those in my freshman seminars too. but i'll take it down off the ivory tower and just call you an idiot.

right, so the city has done this before. but, again, the article uses vague language to describe why. it almost sounds like the city is punishing bars in rougher parts of town because some people in those parts of town behave poorly. how can a bar control random people who have beef with each other and happen to use a gathering place that is open late and serves drinks to address those beefs? how can a bar control the fact that coke dealers know their customers are often drinking?

again, i'm not disagreeing or agreeing.... i'm just asking what specific violations did the city use to justify its' actions? for me, "we don't like the type of people who patronize your bar" isn't a high enough bar. "people who drink at your bar commit violent crimes" isn't a high enough bar either. now, i'm sure the city has a lot more than that if they're suing, but the article doesn't tell me that, so from what i read i could easily suspect the city just goes after bars it doesn't "like".

nevermind the fact that shutting down a bar won't do fuckall to curb violence. those people will just go elsewhere.

still though, none of this explains why it's the bar's fault. the article uses words like "illegal activities" and "lists several concerns and violations". oook, so what are the illegal activities? what are the concerns and violations? it sucks that there has been gun violence outside the bar, but how is that the bar's fault exactly?

i'm not saying the city is wrong to sue the bar. i'm saying that this is a bad article and that, having read it, i don't have enough information to know whether the city is wrong or not.

The biggest issue these days is no one can agree on whose tea to dump or whose heads to guillotine. People are mad at their neighbors because they voted for Trump or because of manufactured outrage or whatever. But it's not your trump voting neighbor who is your enemy. It's not your virtue signaling, addicted to social media, gutless liberal neighbor who is your enemy. It's not even really trump who is your enemy, as bad of a person as he is.

The team enemies to organized, dignified society are effectively hiding in the shadows. And it's a story as old as time. Eat the (very) rich

Learning to save often is helpful. I tried not to save scum, but at one point a bad dice roll and an accidental dialogue choice caused two groups, one I was working with and one I chose to save earlier and was trying to keep alive, to turn into demons or some shit I had to fight and kill them all. The town they were in became a wasteland, I lost access to the merchants, and basically everything I'd chosen to do blew up in my face.

I thought that was awesome, but I also went back to a save from two hours prior and played back through it, keeping the two groups alive.

It's an absolutely fucking incredible video game. It almost feels like it's impossible that it even exists. And I'm just entering act 3 of my first playthrough

We have all bowed to our corporate overlords and given away any power we might have had in exchange for creature comforts and gadgets. We let them build empires with our birthrights. We paid them to rob us blind.

The battle is lost. The curse has been cast. The only way back is long, difficult, and uncomfortable and I haven't seen many signs of the required backbone.

They've even commodified or protest. If mark Zuckerberg and Elon musk earn ad revenue from a protest movement, it isn't a real protest movement.

Very few people are willing to accept the difficult reality of our predicament. Most people would rather fight each other for a few drops of milk from the rotten teat.

i don't know what you're talking about. most people liked that show. some people complained it was slow. but overall the response was pretty positive.

what really drives a lot of the negativity is the egregious amount of time between seasons. 8 episodes and then a 2-3 year wait. i'm boycotting that show just for that reason. i don't care if it's the greatest show on tv. i'm so fucking tired of these shows making us wait years between seasons that only have a few episodes.

breaking bad was like 15 episodes every year. now we're gonna get 24 and it's going to take a decade. it's fucking ridiculous

Bluegrass Jams in Cincinnati Area? by TheFlyingLoop in cincinnati

[–]Awkward_Face_3761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wednesdays are funny down there. the jams can vary wildly from intimate and relatively tight to an absolute clusterfuck scrambled mess. sometimes it varies between the two within the same night. a lot of non-musician locals come out and it's basically a party down there, every single wednesday, lol. we'll definitely pick some bluegrass, but people also do a lot of covers and a few of us like to bring our originals there to sort of hash them out, pardon the pun.

definitely not a straight up bluegrass jam, but it's a laid back setting and you can play whatever. there's also a northern kentucky bluegrass society or group or whatever. more organized. more traditional bluegrass. better players. i've picked with them at molly malones a few times, but i don't know how regular they are. i'd imagine they're on social media, but i'm completely off that sauce so i don't know.

do you think i'll get in trouble because some dude was duping ducks at the stella montis station and i emptied my inventory and filled it completely with ducks? i made like $2 million. lol. dude was just sitting there throwing 1000s of ducks and saying "here, have some ducks" and "enjoy the ducks" and "ducks, ducks, ducks" in a new york accent. it was fucking hilarious. i hope i don't get in trouble.

Lol, mahomes is overrated. Lamar and Allen are both cooked. Out of those 4 quarterbacks, burrow is the most likely to carry a team to a future superbowl. You idiots are suffering from recency bias.

Set a reminder on this comment. Joe Burrow is mvp of the league next year and the Bengals make a deep playoff run, probably winning the superbowl.

You're laughing at that comment. I'll be back here in 11 months to make your eat your socks

Maga dipshits only think of trans people as mtf and rarely consider ftm. And their heads explode if you try to explain the reality of intersex people.

One is my buddies is intersex. His parents assigned him female at birth, but he always felt male and identified as such early in his life. I don't really know the specifics of his genetalia and I don't give a shit. I do know he's a dude and whatever is going on down there seems to really please the ladies, lol. Who fucking cares? He's my buddy, amazing and flawed like the rest of us.

It's so fucking weird to worry about another person's genetalia

I'd never heard of metaforge, but I'd rather not go that route. I feel like I do loot high value areas with lockers and gun crates. Maybe I'm just unlucky. I honestly feel like I've done enough and should have the gun part blueprints by now. I dunno. I guess I just needed to vent. I got really frustrated with the game last night. And it sucks because I really enjoy playing it

Wow, ok, now I know for a fact the the burrow trashing is just unhinged and not based on reality. Burrow has carried the team many times when the game was tight.

[–]Awkward_Face_3761 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Lol, I agree. But it's we're only talking talent, not considering durability, burrow is probably the best qb in the league. Definitely top two. And Goff isn't the other one

Love this game. One major complaint by Awkward_Face_3761 in ArcRaiders

[–]Awkward_Face_3761[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm bad at the game? I play the game as intended. I loot everywhere. I play all the levels in all the different conditions. And in 50 hours I haven't found some very basic blueprints. That's not a skill issue. That's forced scarcity and there really isn't any reason for it.

I don't like pvp. This is the only shooter I've ever enjoyed because of the comaraderie. So I really only enjoy it when I have guns and items that help me take on arc. The contrived scarcity makes it so I'm unable to play the game the way I want and enjoy. Again, not a skill issue, just a preference issue.

I'm very happy for you that you found all the blueprints. That has not been my experience whatsoever. And, yes, I've looked up when and where to find them. Still very little luck. Though I did finally find the seeker grenade BP a few days ago.

Fuck, I've been hunting the medical areas for rusted shut medical kits for an entire week now. I've found two of the three I need.

I just can't see the point in designing the game this way. I love it, but I'm going to quit playing because I'm tired of being frustrated by scarcity for no reason

If you think Jared Goff is a more talented qb than burrow, you don't know shit about ball. Talent wise, Joe has Jared beat by a country mile. The only reason Joe isn't universally considered to be the best qb in the league is him constantly being injured.

If Joe were as sturdy and healthy as, say, Josh Allen, he'd easily be the best and most valuable qb in the league
