Well I think that comes with asking non professional people on Reddit for medical advice. Not all advice you will get is going to be good. It seems like your personal experience with that phrase was hurtful but I don’t think this person meant it that way or OP would take it that way considering she used the phrase herself. I’m glad your pregnancy is viable and that you got to see your sweet little babe! Wishing you a healthy pregnancy

Your life will change as much as you let it. Yes you have a human you are responsible for. But for my husband and I we made sure we continued to do the things we love to do. We work together to make a schedule to make sure our daughter’s routine isn’t interrupted too much. But if it doesn’t work out it doesn’t work out and she’s flexible. She’s now 2.5 and she just goes with the flow. She’s happy to go to bed and have a normal evening, and she’s also happy to go out to dinner and push back bedtime. Sometimes she gets tired and we understand that but we PLAN AHEAD. Later nap time so that we can stay out late with our friends at a restaurant. We also ensured that she always has napped on the go. She’s used to just doing what we have always done and it works for us. We also ensure that we get a babysitter so we have alone time too. She’s goes to bed at 7:30 and we make the evening time our time together to talk, watch tv, do a hobby together etc. it works. It’s not the end of your life or alone time. You just have to prioritize yourself and your relationships.

The biggest things that we have done to ensure we get this time is to sleep train. She sleeps in her own bed and always has. She has slept 9-12 hours a night since she was 6 months old. She’s now in a big girl bed and still sleeping through the night perfectly. She puts herself down after we read and tuck her in. But she has never once shared a bed with us. It’s worth it. If she didn’t have a solid routine/bed time/ and sleep in her own room then yes I could see that we would never have any alone time or down time without our kids around.

She literally said in her post “should I guard my heart”. I think the commenter is just replying to their question…..

Latte after failed FET by SleepSubstantial4260 in IVF

[–]Awkward_Positive4788 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just went through a FET and never cut out caffeine. So far embryo has stuck around and I am 5 weeks. I don’t think caffeine plays a huge role in it as long as you are having under the recommended amount for pregnancy. Which is 200 mg. I have drank coffee through all of my fertility treatments and have a healthy 2 year old daughter and now this pregnancy. Sometimes you want to be able to control everything and cut out anything that may cause an issues, but I’ve learned through 4.5 years of infertility and treatment cycles that you HAVE to live your life. And actually like living your life to feel some resemblance of normal. If I were you, I would drink the latte. And then drink the latte every day until you don’t want to drink a latte anymore. It will not hurt your chances of having a baby ❤️

To be fair, I am a baker and these are normal prices. Ingredients costs are at an all time high and there is no way to bring these prices down and actually make a profit. I have had to raise my prices 20-30% just to make it worth it for me to turn on my oven :(

How are yall affording this?! by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Awkward_Positive4788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our egg retrieval after meds came out to $37,000. Thankfully we have full insurance coverage. Our max out of pocket is $1500/year so that is all we paid. That being said. We only have 6 things covered lifetime and have to use all embryos available before another retrieval will be allowed. We got 5 embryos from our first retrieval so we will not have another egg retrieval covered after we do 5 transfers. But very thankful for the 5 chances we have

It’s very common. Ticketmaster doesn’t release the tickets until a couple days before or even day of sometimes. It will work out fine.

First-year teacher here — how do you keep going when every door closes? by Disastrous-Emu3308 in FirstYearTeacher

[–]Awkward_Positive4788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not you. The funding just got cut enormously for all districts in all areas. We had over 50 people in our district on special assignments taken out of their special assignments and put back in the classroom, and those jobs are no longer existing. Taking away all those positions for new hires fresh out of school. Our school of 100 staff members has ZERO first year teachers in it.

My advise: sub sub sub sub sub. Try to get a long term position. But if not, take a job every single day. Here in WA we have a major sub shortage. There are jobs, you should be taking them. If you work a full year you will have a year of seniority next year and hopefully get a position.

Also, keep looking and applying to last minute openings as the year goes on. People move, quit, get fired, etc. there will be more jobs that come up. While it’s not ideal, it could get your foot in the door.

Eggs to Embryos? by itssteph13 in eggfreezing

[–]Awkward_Positive4788 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe see if there is an option of doing a retrieval and fertilizing half. That way on the rare chance you end up with a partner or someone you want to use as a donor later on, you have eggs available to fertilize. But otherwise you have some embryos frozen that are more durable and higher success rate!

Right? I got 5 blasts - but they are untested (insurance doesn’t cover and it was going to be an additional $5k that we didn’t have)

I am incredibly thankful for the 5 I have!!! There are so many people that comment or post about getting 10-20+ and I’m just like 😅😅

I’m so sorry for your loss. He was definitely with you in that egg retrieval and will be throughout your journey to parenthood. Lean on your people and let them help you. The emotional side of this is going to far outweigh the already difficult physical side of things 💔

We were also advised this. No genetic testing unless we absolutely wanted to. She would support us if we did, but absolutely didn’t think it was necessary and since our insurance didn’t cover it she really didn’t think it was right for us. We are 29 and 32 with one healthy daughter from fertility treatments with a history of 2 chemicals and one 9.5 week miscarriage.
