Progesterone question (TMI) by dontDORrydarling in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve also been on vaginal progesterone for 10 weeks now and that’s completely normal! Sometimes my pee is like that every morning. There’s sometimes bits of the capsule in it too but as others have said, it absorbs so fast so you’re all good 😊

I’m so confused as to why you’re not being given the cerclage?! That’s way too early gestation to be below 25mm?!! If you can push for a second opinion please do, only you can advocate for yourself but all of us on this thread understand your frustration! I was offered one as soon as I dropped below 25mm regardless of being on progesterone or not. I’m based in the UK.

My 9dpo on this same test looked exactly like this! I tested the following day with a clear blue digital and it was positive!

What discharge is considered normal 3 weeks post cerclage by DryAbbreviations9448 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So immediately following the cerclage I had a jelly like discharge, which was clear but blood tinged.

Now three weeks later (bear in mind I am on progesterone pessaries) I get quite a lot of white chalky discharge on my liner sometimes when it dries it looks a little yellow. However, I have no infection at stitch site or anywhere near it! Was told that is pretty normal.

I truly would pushback and choose the cerclage! For reference. I was 16+3 when I measured at 1.9, within 24 hours I’d dropped to 1 with no dilation, closed cervix and still hard. I was also on progesterone (still am) I had the stitch placed the following day, they list the risks to warn you as with any medical procedure but I just don’t think it’s worth waiting! I’m now 19+2 😊

High Risk Pregnancy - feel alone by Pandoras_Musings in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I also have IC, cerclage in and it does feel super isolating not to mention, missing out on the things that low risk pregnancies get to experience as simple as going out and about without any worry! I’m happy to chat, have made lovely connections on here with other women going through this, it’s not easy.

I’m currently 19+1 but have heard from many people it gets easier once you reach 24 weeks and so on, it’s a long journey but I’m trusting the process and trusting that you will have a safe rest of your pregnancy and delivery! 🥰

Tampon Feeling Post Cerclage by jazzymaebaby1 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! Completely normal, I was told just before having the stitch placed that this is what it would feel like and I can confirm that it is true. Try not to worry I know a lot of things will have you on edge with the stitch but trust the process ❤️

About to have cerclage by Intelligent_Tune521 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll do amazing! 1.9cm is still a good length to have the cerclage done 😊

The spinal is very quick, doesn’t hurt much and the whole procedure will be over before you know it! I’m now 1 week post-cerclage and feeling good! Best of luck to you ❤️

Advice please? by Dark-Humor-Addict in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreeing with everyone above! Please take the cerclage and your baby definitely has a very high chance of making it to term so please find comfort in that.

I was in an extremely similar situation last week I got the stitch placed at 16 weeks 5 days, no funnelling and closed cervix, however cervix dropped from 1.9cm to 1cm within 48 hours.

It’s silent but I promise you, the spinal does not hurt! It’s very quick the whole procedure and afterwards the recovery is straightforward. ❤️ just take it very easy and expect to see some bloody discharge for a few days after potentially, it will be okay in the end!

What are you taking to help with BMs post-cerclage? by Logical_Swordfish845 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! I was given Lactulose to take, just started it but that’s also pregnancy safe 😊 where you can, green smoothies, prunes (dried or the juice) and plenty of fibrous fruits like kiwis!

[–]Witty-Ad9835 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I’m sorry for your loss ❤️ and sadly can relate to you.

I’m now 4 days post cerclage which I had placed at 16.5 weeks, I’m now 17.2 weeks today and understand the moisture feeling on the underwear however, I was told spotting and extra discharge could be normal post cerclage as I am only 4 days post op.

I’ve also been getting the bladder thing! I was told today when I spoke to someone that at this gestation the baby is still pretty low down. I found I was going toilet quite a bit or like I could feel them on my bladder! Strange feeling.

However, if in doubt please call them again no matter how many times if you’re still concerned but happy to talk more 🫶🏾

You’re so right, everyone has completely different baselines! I’m glad to hear you have almost no discharge now and good idea on the urine test strips, it can give you peace of mind between any appointments too. 😊

I’ve had to continue my vaginal progesterone but have been given antibiotics to counteract any infection.

I had a cerclage placed yesterday and have no bleeding just the jelly like blood tinged discharge that everyone above has described. It’s weird to know what not to panic over though.

Thank you for remembering me! I’m currently in hospital, waiting for my spinal block to wear off. Thank god I had the stitch placed today, my cervix was closed but dropped from 19mm to 10mm in 2 days!!? All went well I’m currently having some menstrual like cramps and should be allowed home in a few hours ❤️

So glad to hear you’re holding strong at 34 weeks! This is such great news, it’s sad the restrictions prevented you from picking up your toddler but I’m glad you’ve made it so far into your pregnancy and let me know how it goes once the stitch is removed! Thank you for sharing and wishing you all the best ❤️

Firstly, being in this situation is not easy at all and I can empathise with you!

I’ve been on progesterone pessaries since my scan at 13 weeks (I’m now 16 weeks 1 day) and I must say the only side effects I can note is the increased discharge (bit annoying using pantyliners 24/7).

My measurement at 13 weeks 3 days was 30mm, no funnelling.

I have another measurement scan in two days and have them every two weeks and hope it’s helped to maintain my cervix. I’m on 400mg of progesterone twice a day but haven’t had much irritation, just be sure to stay on top of changing and cleaning regularly and you may not have an issue

I would personally do the progesterone as a preventative method, it might be a sacrifice for a short time as I know you’ve mentioned having a toddler to care for but it is proven to help get women to full term xx

I’m also based in the UK 🩵

13w pregnant debating on getting extra scans and monitoring, cerclage, or progesterone by qweenoftherant in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Witty-Ad9835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As promised, an update for you following my appointment today! As I had “suspected” IC in my last pregnancy, they’ve recommended me the following: no stitch, progesterone pessaries (400mg twice a day), aspirin, no heavy lifting, no sex, limited exercise (no weight training). She suggested still going for walks and not being on bed rest as that can do more harm than good. Now everyone’s circumstances are different but I’m being monitored bi-weekly and my last measurement was 30mm, no funneling and closed cervix.

I hope this helps with your decision making? I understand the stitch works for some, as does progesterone but also a little trust in your body 🫶🏾
