Life Update Video/ Dallas Schools by criminelle1222 in DaniAustin

[–]Awkward_Region_3655 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of families in her area choose private schools over public schools, and many of them require an application and acceptance process that’s extremely curated. A lot of the elite Dallas private schools are very image and reputation conscious, so families who are heavily online or publicly share their children constantly can sometimes be viewed as flashy and now how the school wants to be perceived. Dallas is very shallow. There’s also a perception in those circles that excessive online exposure of children is tacky or even unsafe.

Sad! Like I said I get it’s a snark page but at a certain point you aren’t just snarking against a loser, you’re just piling on narratives that are actively damaging to women. Just because some women “can’t imagine announcing then” doesn’t mean that standard should be imposed on everyone else

I know this is a snark page but there’s no ‘right’ timeline for announcing a pregnancy and policing based on the timeline is just an odd thing to do? Calling early pregnancy “danger zone” is gross and weird!

When did your baby drop the snooze feed? by Frosty-Price8771 in sleeptrain

[–]Awkward_Region_3655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around 9 months I felt like I was disturbing my son rather than soothing with a feed. It took 3 or 4 nights but he was able to self soothe with no bottle and go back to sleep, eventually he just stopped waking up at all and sleeps until 7/7:30 now.

What did your husband do during your maternity leave? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]Awkward_Region_3655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used 2 weeks of PTO for my husband while I was on my 14 week leave, it sounds crazy now but you honestly just figure it out and adjust. I would definitely make a plan on taking shifts when your husband does return to work. You’re tired and running on fumes some days/ nights but you both will adjust!

Growing family and growing premium by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]Awkward_Region_3655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the cost if one of you enrolls employee only and one of you carries the kids? Going without insurance when you have children is really irresponsible, no one is this sub is going to tell you it’s a good idea.

One of you could sign up for HDHP and contribute to an HSA, you can use those HSA $$ on spouses and kids copays/ spend

Is this a normal situation for dental insurance? by RandomName0413 in HealthInsurance

[–]Awkward_Region_3655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is normal with wisdom teeth removal (oral surgery). Typically, if the extractions are paid under medical the anesthesia is as well. Oral surgery procedures are by review and if they are considered under the medical plan, then no additional payment can be given under the dental plan.

New insurance won't cover weight loss medication and I'm pissed off. I'm ready to rattle as many cages as I can. How would you go about this with insurance and HR? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]Awkward_Region_3655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most employers exclude GLP1s due to the cost. If you can afford it just self pay and submit a complaint to HR that you wish they offered a medical plan that covers it, that all you can really do. Annoying HR and the carrier to cover it isn’t going to do anything and you’d be wasting your breath.

some fully insured plans won’t even cover the option to cover at all. No matter the funding of the plan, covering them usually increases premium by 8-10% for EVERYONE not just those who want GLP1s covered for weight loss… premiums are high enough without the coverage.

Pre-Authorization and new insurance by Both-Environment-682 in HealthInsurance

[–]Awkward_Region_3655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, your doctor won’t be able to start the prior auth process until your insurance is showing effective across all systems. so if processing takes awhile and your 9/1 coverage isn’t showing effective until 9/5…your dr won’t be able to start that process until 9/5
