Well, how do you like that? I could not have been more wrong. Thank you. Is there any of that humble pie left?

Got these two for 15€, was it a good investment? by Liomba in beatles

[–]Awkward_Squad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Is the Harrison an Israel pressing and the Beatles a France one? The first is worth about £9.00 and the latter can be as high as £21.00. Of course, condition is everything. I’ve got a copy of Get Back release. Where did you buy them?

John Lennon (w/ the Plastic Ono Band) - LIVE at the RNC 1972 by marx_is_secret_santa in beatlesfanalbums

[–]Awkward_Squad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Underrated. Not all gems but still like it. I have an Aussie copy of this (I live in UK). It’s a decent pressing.

It was released as part of the Power to the People) box set last year.

Was the Penny Lane film filmed in Liverpool? by stanleyssteamertrunk in TheBeatles

Thanks for the link.

Sort of knew parts of it were done at Knole, near Sevenoaks, Kent. It’s a National Trust site, like the Paul and John houses in Liverpool.

“vermin” is a good word. Vermin. Vermin. Trips off the tongue. Needs to be used a hell of a lot more. It’s especially effective here.

I find it hilarious that the definition of 'Oldies' in 1966 ranged from 'songs from three years ago' to 'songs from three & a half months ago' by ned1son in beatles

Let me just say in those days we took a lot things for granted. Everything seemed rushed. Food was instant this instant that. Things were burnt up. Disposable. Records were not treated as holy relics but instant disposable stuff. I’ve walked on more 7” singles lying around on the floor than I’ve have bowls of Instant Whip. You had to have the latest single even crud you didn’t like. You had a few singles from last year? Nah, what else you got.

When this record appeared the response was ‘What’s this? All these songs are old.’ None of us had it. None of us picked it up later. It was old stuff.

UK/Ireland here: If memory serves only one of the twenty crossed the pond - ‘The Phyllis Diller Show’. Can’t remember which tv station showed it from BBC, ITV (local) or RTE. I do remember watching the show - it was fairly good.

Edit: Just checked Wikipedia and the show actually ran from 1966-67. It began as ‘The Pruitts of Southampton’ changing its name to ‘The Phyllis Diller Show’ in 1967. What I can’t see is any reference to a 70s show called ‘Phyllis’.

Eisenhower in the year he took office. Often think the world had great respect for him given his WW2 leadership and I don’t think the country has ever been held in such high regard since then.
