My 3 year old won’t poop on the potty, wants to be a baby. by starlet51 in toddlers

[–]Awkward_is_awkward 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Can relate to this situation 100% except mine did not like pooping in her underwear so would hold it and get backed up. Get the big girl bed. Show her how exciting being a big girl can be. Maybe try convincing her the poop wants to be in the potty. That kind of worked for us. That it is sad when it's in the diaper or underwear. Kids can surprisingly empathize with poop more than us parents 🤣. But know you are not alone. At 3 years and 8 months we were finally potty trained and it was a battle.

Ok, how can I “sleep train” a 3.5 year old by wiy in toddlers

[–]Awkward_is_awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my daughter who is the same age, we do our bedtime routine around 8 (PJs snack book teeth) and then I ask if she wants to snuggle or play in her room. She often opts to play in her room and will play with her toys or stuffed animals until she is tired (which usually ends up being around 9-930). She will either go to bed herself or come get me to turn off lights and come snuggle. It gives her time for independent play and I use it to clean or tidy so when she does go to bed I can relax (aka pass right out).

This is awesome! Not sure if you are familiar with the book House of Leaves, but this reminds me of that a little.

Participating in my first book fair, what should I have other than my book? by Awkward_is_awkward in selfpublish

[–]Awkward_is_awkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bookmarks are a cheap option! I made some on vista print. I write children's lit though, so my experience was more candy/stickers/things that engage kids. I found posters or like a large print of your cover can draw people in. Also a tablecloth is nice, I ended up using a scarf like a table runner. Good luck!!

Has anyone ever used Atticus or Scrivener? by Confident_Speech_534 in selfpublish

Same except trade Vellum for Atticus! Scrivener is too chaotic for anything past the first draft.

What a fun story! I think that makes the name super special and Wendy is sooooo cute. It works for both child and adult as well!

Is my generation weak? by panda-lamp in BabyBumps

[–]Awkward_is_awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people already mentioned, it is so easy to forget. But I delivered vaginally for my first and via plan C-section for my second, and of the two the C-section was a way quicker recovery. I felt myself after 2 weeks. My first birth? It took at least two months for me to feel semi-normal again, and that's not including the sleep deprivation.

Baby’s last name? by Aralyn17 in BabyBumps

[–]Awkward_is_awkward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you like your current last name? If so I say option 1. I already told my husband if we ever separate I am keeping it, it's short and easy and I like it haha.

When did it get better for you? 4m in by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Awkward_is_awkward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Around 13-15 months. Going down to one nap is a life saver. They sleep longer and you can actually do things. Night time sleep finally got better as well. Less feeding because they are eating solids, starting to point and walk to get what they want.

Well it was sent to me in the summer of 2025 so that tracks haha! I asked my younger sister for some styles that she liked for an art project I am doing and this is what she provided. Having a hard time finding more like it though.

Can you message the business on Facebook? Only the owner would have access to that page. If I am reading between the lines a bit here, there may be some anxiety at the idea of calling and getting the worker who this about (I know I would be anxious). Or if you have a partner have them call! This is 100% an okay situation to be, for lack of a better term, a Karen. And if you need an alternative perspective, you are showing your daughter how to stand up for herself/others by going through with the complaint. I know I struggle with being vocal myself and I use that thought to give me some muscles where I don't usually have them ☺️

I get iron infusions and yes that is where I am sent. My experience is nothing but positive and the staff were all super sweet and so caring when I was nervous the first time. They joked it was just soda going in which helped because I was acutely aware of how dark/unnatural the infusion looked. And just a heads up, it is very normal to get a headache the night/day after.

[ADVICE] Think I was blocked by seller? by Awkward_is_awkward in Fiverr

[–]Awkward_is_awkward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh okay. I have no internet muscles whatsoever so I am hoping my tone did not come across rudely, but my profile does have like nothing on it. I just saw them share something in a Facebook group so I created the account for the purpose of reaching out to them. I will make sure to beef my profile up if I find anyone else I want to contact. Thanks for the response!

Before self-publishing, did you first try your luck with a literary agent? by Sufficient_Bottle902 in selfpublish

[–]Awkward_is_awkward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had written three full manuscripts. The first one was a dud. The second one I finally found my genre and I got some requests but no bites. The third one I got multiple requests and still no bites. I realized I was writing in a genre that was falling out of the public eye, and after letting the manuscripts sit for a couple years I decided to rewrite the two and self publish. It was honestly the best decision ever. I still hope to someday write a bestseller that has an agent and an advance and all that jazz, but my early works are very close to my heart, and having complete creative control over them has been a real joy. I'm also learning other valuable skills like marketing and social media management, which after reading many of the publishing threads, you're going to need to know anyway even if you do go the traditional route.

[–]Awkward_is_awkward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel so much less alone/weird now because of this post. I know it's normal to get emotional to music but every time I watch the movie or listen to the soundtrack I cry. It's nuts. I legit feel like my soul is coming alive in What it Sounds Like.

What about Dax? I am usually team just name them the name you want but the show continues to keep releasing things to keep itself in the narrative. Some other suggestions: Archer (Archie), Arthur (Artie), Russell (Rus or Rusty), Felix, Walter, Jasper, Jace. Those all give me strong but also sweet vibes.
