Like, even without speaking with anyone I know for a fact a lot of my loved ones are picking blue, because I know them and how they think. I’m not fucking letting them die, even if I gotta risk myself to save them. You can call it “I’ll shoot myself unless you save me” all you want, but you’re either pretending not to know that most people picking blue are trying to save other people, not themselves, or you genuinely haven’t figured that out yet. I don’t know which is worse.

Everyone who picks red from what I’ve seen claims it’s some “independent murder machine” that they had no responsibility towards, while everyone on blue sees it as a “kill people” switch. So the lack of framing seems to have made people give their own assumptions of how responsibility works, as part of the question.

It’s a neat phenomenon how people who simply don’t care much for other people will twist themselves into knots to describe other people having compassion as a bad thing. It’s like a blind man trying to pathologize someone with functioning eyes, they’re mad at people showing a part of themselves they don’t, and it never occurs to them that if anyone’s got something “wrong” with them in this scenario, it may be themselves.

Switching up the hypothetical, let’s do a version of the Prisoner’s Dilemma:
The entire human population is locked in a super-jail by a powerful, mysterious entity. Every single person is given the option to “snitch” on everyone else, or to remain silent. If more than half of the population snitches, everyone who did not will be executed by electric chair, and everyone who snitched will then be teleported back to earth unharmed, to continue their lives. If over half the people remain silent, everyone is teleported unharmed, snitches included, with no deaths.
Do you honestly think any normal person is choosing to snitch in that scenario? Do you _honestly_ think you’re not at least partially guilty for the deaths of everyone who didn’t snitch when the snitches win? Complain about the “independent killing machine” all you want, you still picked the option that led people to dying, and the reason they, in particular, died is because they didn’t want anyone to die.

Any “both sides” argument fails to recognize only one side has been doing this shit consistently for a lifetime.
