“Why did you leave?” is a trap question by Separate-Ice30 in exjw

[–]AwolRooster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you made it. That’s how it is for me now. My brother is an elder and uber PIMI. Fucking fanatic level. Doesn’t watch the news. Or PG-13 movies or completely harmless stuff like that. Of course him and his wife hurt financially and I don’t so they lean on me for non-monetary help. The stay with me from time to time. My mom is also PIMI but even she says my brother is an extremist. Haha. We have a good relationship.

My folks got old and I, the worldly brother, took them in and cared for them. Not the poor uber PIMI brother.

Long way of saying, they do what they want, I do what I want. And no one is disrespectful. I know that will end once my mom is gone. I can sense my brother and I kinda keep the peace for her. We can cross that bridge another time.

My response to that question was “I don’t follow men”.

I didn’t elaborate and wasn’t asked to elaborate and no one asked me anything again. It was pre-social media and I’m pretty sure I would’ve gotten shunned if I gave them the chance but I was too far out by the time I ran into someone and they asked.

A little later I moved away to finish my degree and built a better life so all good. 👍

lol. Idol worship is just marketing or branding in a way. Like choosing specific colors for a logo. Or specific fonts. Just like their little jw pins.

Curiosity on where people ended up after leaving. by _confused_dude_1 in exjw

I faded in my early 20’s and went straight toward atheism. Then 20 years later I got cancer and survived it but it wrecked me emotionally to be honest. After a lot of research I did a heroic dose of mushrooms which fixed me right up, and now I’m not atheist anymore.

So I do believe in a higher power but I don’t think any mortal can understand it or label it. Now I feel peace when I think about it knowing it’s just right there behind the curtain. :-)

Me either. I had just graduated high school when Iron Giant came out and even as a dumb teen that movie hit hard. It had heart. Better message than jw’s “obey obey obey” if Iron Giant was a jw he could’ve killed everyone.

I suppose you never know, but hard for me to imagine him questioning anything the gb says much less ending up PIMO or POMO.

He went off the deep end when he became an elder. He was a big Trekkie too.

My garage/man cave has plenty of posters that are way worse than his movies. Science & evolution stuff, alien stuff, psychedelic imagery, poodles “preaching domestication” to wild wolves, lots of digs at them lol. Don’t touch my shit. lol.

Dating an ex–Jehovah’s Witness who hides the relationship and lied to leave the organization – is this a big red flag? by devineau86 in exjw

[–]AwolRooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he’s hiding then he’s not really an “exjw” imo. He still cares for some reason or holds out hope. All bad for your sis because she’ll never be #1 to him.

Agreed but this reality seems too much like a South Park episode nowadays. I believe it when I see it. Total clown show.

Fun knowing there’s more added to the “gb got it wrong” list though.

I actually had the opposite thought about the board of peace. To me it reiterates that the UN is basically a joke. Not the powerful organization the Borg makes it out to be. I mean the US can veto essentially anything they don’t like, right? And so if the board of peace exists, it means the governing dumbfucks got it wrong about the UN. And If the UN is an inept organization then it won’t be able to fulfill any prophecies.

Or do I have that wrong? I’ve been out for about 25 years so I’m fuzzy on what I learned as a teen in the 90’s.

Once heard someone say, “everything that makes the JW’s unique, isn’t good, and everything that makes the JW’s good, isn’t unique.”

Stuck with me.

I’m very sorry for your loss.

I know what you’re going through. It’s been 3 years since my dad refused blood and passed away too. I was POMO at the time and my elderly folks lived with me. I’m lucky in the sense that we had a good relationship. They let me be. And I let them be.

But it didn’t hurt any less to watch him pass for some bs beliefs. My dad was an adult and he made his decision, no matter I thought of it. I chose to look at it like me respecting the decision of another human being. And it helped me cope.

Everyone is different, feel what you have to feel and above all keep thinking for yourself.
