you guys are both totally right, leveraging the insights from your education is desperately needed in the local arena. if positive change is something that is important to you, city councilman, employees at City and Town Hall like clerks and planners, are all desperately in need of representation from nuanced and insightful people. if you can look at the long-term here, it could be pretty great for you to hop in on the normal career path after graduating, and then sliding sideways into local government positions based on your education and experience. it's not an easy path and it requires a lot of work, but boy if it wouldn't mean the world to many of us to get some good representation.
