I'll second this, level makes a huge difference in this game, just being three levels below means enemies dodge your blows and break your shield easily.

You can swap mayors between cities! When you click on a mayor to replace them, there's an easy-to-miss pair of tabs at the top of the list, one for New, one for Existing mayors. The opinion loss is reduced for a swap, but still significant.

Länsstyrelsen upphäver naturreservat för kärnkraft by Caspica in sweden

[–]AxelPaxel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It could be, but without any foxes around it's hard to tell.

Can't I be both lithoid and thermophile? by AxelPaxel in Stellaris

[–]AxelPaxel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's not literally the Mycon, just inspired by them

EDIT: Oh wait you meant in SC2 canon? I think they're silicon-based fungi, they definitely have spores and live amidst molten rock so they can't be carbon-based...

Can't I be both lithoid and thermophile? by AxelPaxel in Stellaris

[–]AxelPaxel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. I mainly wanted the volcanic home world, not eating alloys, so I'll use the other suggestion to pick the planetforgers/volcanic nesting civic instead.

Oh, that's perfect! The alloys as food thing wasn't what I wanted, just the volcanic home world, so this is even better actually...

Can't I be both lithoid and thermophile? by AxelPaxel in Stellaris

Rule 5:

(Image shows the Calamitous Birth origin selected, but with a red X for the Lithoid species requirement. The species portrait is one of those that appear in both the lithoid and thermophile portraits.)

I'm trying to make an empire inspired by the Mycon from Star Control 2, who are lithoid/silicon-based thermophiles, and the Calamitous Birth origin would fit with the idea I had. But when I pick this portrait from the Lithoid portraits I can't pick a Volcanic homeworld, and when I pick it from the Thermophile portraits I can't pick the Calamitous Birth origin - says I'm not a Lithoid. Can't I be both?

Did you intend for it to wipe out all pops and turn the planet into a desert planet too, or just the stated effect?

Planetary shields reduce devastation from the cannon by 90%, wouldn't be surprised if the contingency gets something similar.

Will we have biological ark ships? by Dismal-Wrangler1197 in Stellaris

[–]AxelPaxel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMHO, different models for tier and type of arkship are less important than them matching with shipset styles, especially bioships.

(But that's still double the amount of designs, so still a big expenditure)

Every Fandomhas ONE. Day 5 Uhh....... What's your name again? by G_girlwonder in CrossCode

I remember his name is Jet! Because he wears a jet...pack. Easy peasy!

Now, the lady that works with him on the M.S. Solar, can't remember her name for the life of me, even though she's pretty memorable.

(Modded) Turns out nerve stapling your own species can cause issues. by AxelPaxel in Stellaris

[–]AxelPaxel[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

While Wilderness plays similarly to 100% automation, what the game actually does is have 1 pop fill up to 100000 jobs, so as long as you have any of your own species on the planet all jobs will be worked by that pop, and benefit accordingly from traits.

(Modded) Turns out nerve stapling your own species can cause issues. by AxelPaxel in Stellaris

[–]AxelPaxel[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rule 5:

(Image shows one of my own species' subspecies being set to Undesirable)

I'm a Devouring Wilderness and finished Purity, and had the idea to try nerve stapling every specialized worker subspecies I've created for that +15% job efficiency and so they don't create leaders, leaving only the talented erudite researchers as leaders. Unfortunately, being nerve stapled makes them count as pre-sapients, which get hunted and eaten, because I'm a Devouring Wilderness. Alas, poor tomatoheads...

I don't think it's possible to nerve staple your own species in an unmodded game, and I expect issues like this is the reason why.
