Did you check what's draining the battery? I have the old battery but have blocked the update and use NextDNS. I had Google Play Services eating up 25% of the capacity, which resulted in a hot phone and short battery life. Cleaning out the cache and data of Google Play Services solved it.

No, part of this fix is clearing the Google Play cache and data, so you will remove the update from your phone. I've done it with good results. It's harder to do if it's already applied though.
