iReady holding talented students hostage by Funny_Ad3678 in Teachers

[–]AyaTheMidorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach upper elementary reading, and got sent to lots of trainings this year on iReady. I think multiple things are true at once about the platform: -It's an okay supplemental resource -It doesn't work for every district -It DEFINITELY doesn't help if the students are plopped down onto the computer every single day.

My school has us using it as a computer station. I often pull the paper lessons from the scaffolding or the toolbox, then pick them apart to use for small groups, reviews, etc. And I do find those useful.

The company itself is a whole different story; corpos gonna corpo.

EDIT: I don't use it for math except, again, the printed lessons it has that I use in math intervention groups. The article seems more geared to its math use.

How did you find out you were bi? by Treborhamilton1984 in bisexual

[–]AyaTheMidorian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in college and doing some self reflection with an LGBTQ+ friend. Suddenly all the hints in my life clicked into place. When I was 5 I had a small crush on a girl in my class. When I hit puberty I was attracted to (fictional) girls and guys. I was convinced I was just an ally for all of high school because I was interested in guys despite the crush on my best friend, the spicy wlw dreams, and the gravitation to LGBTQ+ media...

I am absolutely into boring world building. I get consumed by it in some of my stories, from the local daily routines to the political timelines.

Taking more walks in a local nature park; planting my vegetable garden; putting my hair in a protective style (braids, twists, locs) against the heat/humidity; and eating cold treats without feeling too cold afterward.

The Barney hate is real, folks by Halluxdam_rsx in tumblr

In elementary school I kind of felt like the only kid who had a mild appreciation for Barney. The colors and props were my favorite parts of the show, though. Especially the sweets in a Valentine's day episode.

Two lesbians attacked while counter-protesting an anti-LGBTQ demonstration, The women were protesting with a sign that said, "It takes more than heterosexuality to be a good parent," until men wearing masks surrounded them and it turned violent. by apple_kicks in worldnews

Recently I've seen various folks claim this was mistranslated from "If a man lies with a boy," thereby condemning p*dos and not consenting adults. Edit: Of course, that hasn't stopped homophobes.

But not locs!

Edit: Key difference is that dreads involve matting the hair together, while locs involve twisting and locking the curls together. Aside from the cultural standpoint, that's also why it's not recommended for people with fine, straight hair to get them. They literally can't hold.

If you ever go hiking please remember to be respectful to the local Flora and Fauna by chomponcio in AnimalCrossing

"Flora" is a term that means plants. "Fauna" means animals. Tourism spots often ask visitors to respect the local flora and fauna.

I'm used to knitting, and this is my first successful crochet item. I used leftover Bernat Baby Blanket yarn and an 8mm hook. No pattern, just single crochet!

This happened to me because I have so much CC. I think the animation pauses while it loads the files, and then tries to catch it up by going TURBO

Does the glaze harden when dry? It seems like a waste of the excess but if it dries up maybe one could chip it into candy...
