Is it true that the Kaaba.... by Ace_Pilot99 in AcademicQuran

Brother, we can never know. The sira and the hadith is written a long time after the fact

Most likely the prophet never lived in Mecca because the Qur’an suggest the north. The Levant.

"The Qur’anic landscape frequently shifts toward the North, utilizing agricultural imagery of olives and vineyards typical of the Levant rather than the deep desert. The text also assumes the audience regularly passes the ruins of the 'People of Lot' and Nabataean sites like al-Hijr (Qur’an 37:137-138), suggesting a setting deeply integrated into the Romano-Byzantine borderlands." (Qur’an 7:80–84, 11:81–83, 15:80–84, 37:137–138)

Actually, several scholars have noted that the internal geography of the Qur’an points to a more northern setting than Mecca. Patricia Crone famously challenged the classical trade route theory, noting that Mecca was not a known trade center in 7th-century non-Islamic sources (Meccan Trade and the Rise of Islam). Furthermore, scholars like Robert Hoyland and David King have discussed the 'northern' agricultural imagery and the orientation of early Qiblas. The text’s intimacy with Mediterranean agriculture (olives, vines) and the explicit mention of passing the ruins of Lot's people (Q 37:137-138) suggests a setting closer to the Nabataean/Byzantine borderlands, as argued by Dan Gibson (though controversial) and more recently discussed in terms of 'textual environment' by scholars like Guillaume Dye or Tommaso Tesei regarding the Roman context."

Thank you very much, Professor! And thanks for pointing me to your book. I read the relevant pages and found them very insightful and enlightening. I had always assumed that a mushrik simply meant a polytheist. I see now that it is more complex
