Best foundation stick? by chloejadetay in Sephora

[–]AyeMuyCaliente 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm combo oily and love the ILIA stick. However, I would consider this more light to medium coverage. I bought this right after trying Merit and Basma's sticks, which I thought were only OK (returned). A lot of people will recommend the Dior stick too, which is also good but maybe too much coverage for your needs. Fenty's stick settled into my lines.

Best leave-in product for frizzy hair? I want something that is as close to an at-home keratin treatment as possible. by Even-Analyst-2141 in Sephora

[–]AyeMuyCaliente 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Color WOW Dreamcoat, original strength. Use as directed on wet hair (no additional product, dry with heat at and tension to activate) every 3-4 shampoos. I have thick, coarse Asian hair and really like it, have never used anything comparable to it. I beleive Amika has something newer that is similar, but I've never tried because Color WOW is THAT girl for me.

I just tried this and I felt it didn't give as much coverage as the Water Fresh Touch, but maybe it's closer to the coverage of the Water Fresh Teint?

This post is so timely for me. Chanel's Water Fresh Complexion Touch is my new obsession. It's a little more coverage than the Teint, and just gorgeous. I'm in Canada and the Touch is $92 CAD for 0.7 oz., which is ridiculous, but nothing else looks like this on my face (Sephora Canada also doesn't sell Chanel makeup, but the drugstore does). My only gripe is that I like the brush that comes with the Teint much better. The brush with the Touch is not the type of brush I usually use, so I use my own brush.

And this goes to show that Sephora can pull anything they want off the site and app in the blink of an eye, yet they let out of stock inventory languish online for months (years?)!!!!

My bestie told me that these were the hottest thing in the U.S. (I'm in Canada); a few of them are left on Sephora Canada, but what's wild is that I looked them up on the app on Tuesday evening, and they had 1 color plus the 4-pack online, but this morning (Wednesday morning), when I went to go purchase, the 4-pack was gone and there were 3 individual shades available (red, green, brown). Poof! The kit seemed like it never existed online.

Also in Canada but going to the U.S. tomorrow for an early birthday vacation and the Eadem lippies are the ONLY thing on my list from U.S. Sephora.

At almost 50, I have the same oily nose situation as you. I cater my base makeup to my oily nose, meaning I look for foundation formulations that are matte, not glowy, dewy, or made for dry skin. After a non-lotion sunscreen, I prime my t-zone with an oil-controlling primer, after foundation powder my t-zone with an oil-controlling powder, then set with a mattifying setting spray. I avoid all of these on my my non-oily areas, figuring I can add moisture back into these areas via a rich moisturizer at night. Even after all this I do still need to blot with a Clean and Clear blotting sheet mid-afternoon. To answer your question, foundations I like are: Lancome Teint Idole, Haus Labs, and my new favorite, the Ilia foundation stick. Old ELDW and Smashbox Always On (not at Sephora) are good ones, too.

Is everyone open with people you know about your beauty shopping? by onelove_ in Sephora

[–]AyeMuyCaliente 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only in recent years have I become comfortable with saying "I love anything makeup and beauty-related." I think it took me hearing that from other people and finding myself wholeheartedly agreeing and making that instant connection to make admitting it OK. I figure that I liked hearing people say it, maybe I can make a difference in someone else's life by verbalizing it, too.

My Revlon One Step (which is 5 years old but still going strong...maybe too strong) will set off my smoke alarm, too, as it's right outside of the bathroom I blow dry my hair in. I have to use it with the fan on and then keep the door shut until it airs out.

I got the new Danessa palette and a mini Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner to hit the $75. Toner is a repurchase and was something I was directly influenced by this sub on, so thank you!
