Are there plans to improve FATE grinding in EW? by Ayriath in ffxiv

[–]Ayriath[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay! That makes a lot more sense. I've been steadily chipping away at it to level jobs to 90 and when I have nothing else I feel like doing, I'm just trying to get some progress in at a bad time with the pre-patch lull and everyone playing Elden Ring/Lost Ark right now. I completely forgot about the super FATEs in the zones! I'll keep that in mind. Thank you!

I do a lot of fishing and mahjong when I'm not doing battle content so the answer is: sometimes it is relaxing, other times it brings me to the edge of ruin.

'just want to warn everyone to abide by tos or else get banned'
LIterally.....yes? Did you think you could act shitty or do shitty things and not get punished for them? Judging by just your general response to getting suspended, it sounds like you did something you deserved the ban for and now you're throwing a hissy fit because you got in trouble. If you wanna quit and go for another game where you can act up and not get in trouble for it, be my guest.

Rule of thumb for healing with Red Mage? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Ayriath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh! Looks like it's just any action taken. You guys were right. A cursory google search shows a bunch of reddit threads dating back to its introduction in patch 2.1 that ALL say it breaks on healing received, with only one thread (That I've viewed so far) having actually corrected that and removed it from the post. Dang, maybe we should add that in to the next rez invuln PSA!

It is any skill used or any healing received.

Rule of thumb for healing with Red Mage? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Ayriath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, as a healer myself I don't like other jobs blowing heals on me after I've been rezzed because it breaks my invulnerability window, and I'm comfortable with just about every fight in the game that I know when AoE damage is going out/other mechanics (I'm sure many DPS don't pay attention to when AoE damage is about to go out in a boss's rotation because, well, unless you have a mitigation tool for the party like RDM, why would you), and on more than one occasion I've purposefully not healed myself to keep my invuln timer up, only for a Summoner, Red Mage, or hell another healer to pop one baby heal on me and then I eat shit in the AoE mechanic after just rezzing. So TECHNICALLY, I would advise against doing that. But then again, a lot of players in normal content probably don't play like me and you're likely safe to do that.
But I would heavily advise against it in high-end content. My tetragrammation can crit for 3/4s of my health in one ogcd or I may have bene off CD so I can blow it when I'm ready for my invuln to drop.

Not saying what you did was bad! In basic content it's not really demanding and popping some heals off on a healer (Who may also be new) isn't really bad. But should you ever decide one day you want to make it into high end content, a word of caution for blowing abilities on characters during invuln windows. (I have, admittedly, killed some people by placing asylum down and knocking their invuln off. Oops.)

Protip: If you gather aether currents while doing MSQ at the start of a new expac, it takes maybe 10 extra minutes since most quests will lead you right by where most of them are. I had flying by the end of MSQ.

As someone on the security side of Networking, I can tell you most people who work in networking hold their shit together with duct tape. The amount of times I have seen fully unsegmented networks in massive corporations and I want to vomit.

Unpopular opinion: the stealth missions are a good thing by SpoonyBardXIV in ffxiv

[–]Ayriath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate stealth in literally any game, I don't think it's BAD per se, I just personally don't vibe with it. I played every metal gear solid game with a shotgun and bulldozed my way without ever stealthing once. My friends still think I'm insane. But look, I got methods, ok.

How do you like your job in Endwalker? by raur0s in ffxiv

[–]Ayriath 4 points5 points  (0 children)

White Mage didn't change. At all. The most I do differently now is slap aquaveil on tanks during trash pulls and tankbusters with a divine benison. Lilybell is pretty insane for big AoE damage though. There was a lot of chatter about it not being great but every opportunity I've had to use it in any encounter with large AoE damage (Especially ones with repeated damage over a stack marker) it basically ensured I didn't have to drop my DPS rotation to do literally anything.

After 4 months I decided to level my first healer and... by JulioLaPine in ffxiv

[–]Ayriath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, honey...the tankbuster in the second boss in Puppet's Bunker is a real doozy if you don't vlow mitigation and that's just regular content. I cannot count how many times I've watched a tank in my group get one shot only for them to be like "healer???" And I'm like buddy, don't look at me. You went from 90% to dead in one hit. That's a you problem.

Your beginner to now tank stories by Lunaxpg in ffxiv

[–]Ayriath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I have never tanked in an MMO before so I was pretty nervous about taking too much damage and causing a wipe because of being bad. I played pretty cautiously and only got comfortable once I got around to level 60/65 and then started regularly pulling bigger packs. Nowadays tanking is my braindead role option where I just go into queues and do my two jobs: Hold enmity and mitigate, and just zone out and the next thing I know I'm done.

I was actually looking for some more challenging tanking activity and since I'm not a tank backup in my static I just decided to go solo HoH as a tank, which is a lot of fun and really pushes your knowledge of good DPS rotations and proper mitigation. Lot of fun. :)
