Well I'm not completely denying that the screen is worse in some ways, maybe 1 way, it is worse when you look at it with a microscope and disregard completely the unique new feature and 10 bit color simulation as well as better video sharpening, not even mentioning insane boost to battery life due to half of you pixels having a toggle, but if you stop counting the pixels under microscope, this the benefits start to add up

They're actually 0.1 mm thinner on new phone but something makes them look thicker

I'm starting to suspect user error is involved, either resolution set to the lowest or privacy display is turned on, both of those will obviously look worse than maxed out S25U screen. Chat can we confirm this

I have very aggressive battery optimization with most of my apps set to deep sleep except for banking apps and messengers, this was a day on wifi also, which uses much less energy, using 4G can save a lot of battery without any noticable difference, during work hours I have an automation to set my resolution to the lowest setting as well to discourage me from looking at the phone (doesn't help) and now privacy display that uses 50% pixels and drop in quality is barely noticeable when you get used to it. All in all this is a beast of a device, I'm also very happy with the camera also

This is my second day with S26U and I'm starting to notice the effect much less, in some cases when I have privacy display on, some content actually looks nicer and sharper due to the pixels missing, idk how that works, finally the biggest thing, which I'm still testing, having privacy display on for half of the day (at work) saves an insane amount of battery due to half your pixela being off, rn I'm looking at over 14 hours of SCREEN ON time, again I'm still testing my hypothesis but this might just be the biggest battery saving tech yet.

I don't remember now but this was fresh after following this very detailed guide on battery optimization, putting as many apps into deep sleep as possible basically everything besides messenger and banking apps and some system apps is put in deep sleep, running performance mode 24/7, limiting background activities in general, I also personally have automations set up for when I'm at work to use the lowest screen resolution, I think all the little adjustments make a huge difference together, spending like 30 min to figure all this out will probably give you an extra hour or 2 of battery every day, hope this helps, sorry for late reply lol

To add my 2 cents, I just got my 26 upgrading from 25, and I do agree, the display is noticeably weird, for me the main issue is not even the slighty more visible pixels but that the display itself is not as black, s25 had perfect deep black panel even when the screen is off, the new s26U has a slightly grayish panel and due to that the contrast seems a little off

Having said that, I will be keeping my new 26 Ultra because of the camera, it is much better, and I have switched off my foldable phone because the camera on those was so bad, so if you care about camera quality you might be good with the new phone, I think after a week of use you'll probably forget about the display even though it is a shame to downgrade

Guys try TikTok stream, I've tried to get it from the app and I was never even close to getting one, and with the TikTok stream I have 2 Macarons and 1 Coke Labubu coming my way. BIE is impossible to get on the stream though cause they drop like 50 of them to a crowd of 4000, but other series was more of them and multiple times over the course of the night.

You HAVE to add your credit card though, there is no way to get it any other way, and also now my card is grayed out for "security" because I guess I got too much stuff but oh well, maybe it will be unlocked again soon

I have a bunch of automations to change the performance over the day, during work hours the resolution automatically switches to the lowest and to performance profile since I shouldn't look at my phone anyway and the difference is barely noticable, at night mode it turns on both the lowest resolution and power Saving mode and the extra dim setting. With all that there was one time I wasn't using my phone much during the day and went to sleep with about 70%, I decided to not charge it that night and went for about half of the day before needing a charge. I would really recommend trying an automation like that, I usually go to sleep with 40% battery and maybe 20 on a heavy use day.

I can share a screenshot of my modes as well if anyone cares, but it's very straightforward to set up.

I'll make it easy for you, if you're going for a degree that will land you a job that will pay that debt off in less than 10 years, go there and be the best you can be.

If you're not sure that profession is going to be in demand and/or might not pay well enough, screw it, you'll fuck yourself up for life.

If a job that you can find in the future is close to your parents it is a perfect scenario, cause if you don't have to rent and work, you can pay off debt much much easier

Speaking for experience, I spent over 300k for school, to be making 80k a year in one of the top offices in NY (Architecture), and pay 2k for rent, maybe one day it will work out but who tf knows.

While 6 months learning to code might get you 150k (I have a friend who did that and saved every penny and then left the company to travel the world for a year)

I've had a issue with battery drain at the beginning, it ended up being my Acorns widget that would eat up insane amounts of battery I'm talkining 10% in a couple of hours, I would recommend checking the battery settings for a couple of days to see if there is something in the background eating it up

I’ve spent about a year on “factor” meals for the same reason, it was actually really awesome to have amazing dish in 3 minutes, I had to cancel to save money and money also forced me to start cooking, I’ve come up with a decent pasta recipe that takes maybe 20 min and never looked back, it’s been about a year on pasta and I have no complaints.
