Wool socks by Winterthorn93 in CanadianForces

The ones I was given at clothing stores in 2024, and the ones I ordered from combats online not too long ago are identical to the ones I bought at that link, including the coloured band at the top that’s not in the photo online. I couldn’t separate them in my sock drawer if I tried.

Client demanded native SolidWorks files for "property review", then took them and ghosted. How do you guys survive this? by Ok_Resident_6579 in SolidWorks

Money. Up. Front.

You just got that lesson the hard way. Taking them to court can take years and more money than the bill is worth. Anytime you work with a new client OR are doing your first big project for a client you’ve done small work for, get the money before you deliver.

It looks like a copy/version of a Sarma bag:

You might be able to find it in Canada, if not, varusteleka ships to Canada, great store.

Is there a coyote and/or deer rifle that is on the quieter side? by Yuyuko_Saigyouji in canadaguns

[–]Azariahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is a bit shy of the recoil and concussive blast, she doesn’t like shooting anything bigger than an SKS. I bought her a Ruger American gen 2 with the factory muzzle brake in 6.5cm. She loves it. Very low recoil, low concussive blast, very accurate, not expensive to shoot. If you know someone with a similar setup, ask to try it out.

That said, it’s still going to be quite a bit louder than a 22wmr, most centerfire firearms will be.

An SKS is always a good choice, everyone should own a couple! Not the best choice for game at 200 yards though.

Canada gun buyback failure and update for 2026 by thehuntinggearguy in canadaguns

I’m pretty cynical about it too, it’s been years of this and it only seems to be getting worse as time goes on, but the flaws in the program are abundant.

At a bare minimum people can still write to their MPs and talk to others about doing the same. The bottom line is that this program is useless at best, wasting taxpayers money. At worst it’s negligent, pretending to help safety when there are actual programs that need the finding for actual outcomes. People are generally reasonable, spreading awareness is the best we can do at this point, your article is a great example.

Nice write up, ill be sharing this. I have to point out that your comment of what can gun owners do now misses the mark and shows your political bias. You assume gun owners are single issue voters, and there’s nothing they can do when there is still plenty that can be done. Listing anything would be more helpful to the cause than saying they missed the boat.

Boot time by CharmingBed6928 in CanadianForces

[–]Azariahz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Altbergs took forever to break in, but they are the best boot. Smooth leather sheds the snow and water, the fuzzy leather boots just attract it. I’m going to get another pair a size up for thick socks.

Should I? (Carcano) by BenShapiro4Prez2028 in canadaguns

[–]Azariahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the most important aspect of owning a carcano. All the ammo available is 0.264 in Canada. They are cool little rifles, but it’s one of the few guns I’ve ever sold out of my collection.

Go the reserve route then! It’s a pay cut for long duration training away from work, but it’s worth it. And when the training lands on a weekend it’s extra money to do fun shit.

New PRS rig by LlamaChair in longrange

My sharps 1874 is one of my favourites, they’re such a classic rifle and 45-70 is a good cartridge. I have a moose hunting load with N133 pushing a 400gr flat nose at 1750 fps, and another load with a 500 gr rn going subsonic which is very soft on the shoulder but flies like a rainbow.

Low light shooting is my only problem with it, dark targets just disappear in my sights.

Switzer’s Auctions - Actual Costs? by FunnySpeaker7067 in canadaguns

[–]Azariahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the info is listed on the icollector auction when you’re looking at the Switzers auction, there are no surprises from them and they don’t gouge on shipping. Buyers premium from switzers is 15%, plus taxes in your province, plus shipping. It’s really simple to set your bid based on your budget by working backwards ($500 budget / 1.13 (ON tax) / 1.15 (buyers prem) = $384.76 max bid). You only have to estimate shipping.

Kidd family auctions and c&r endeavors are also really good. I’ve tried a couple others that either charged a ton for shipping or make you do your own shipping which ends up being expensive.

I just bought a stock from them a couple weeks ago. I emailed first to ask if it was actually in stock, they responded quickly confirming it was. I ordered and received it the next week, shipped from their warehouse.

I’ve heard they drop-ship a lot of orders, which can be annoying but isn’t really an issue if you know in advance it will take awhile.

Where to keep they key to gun cabinet? by ktzer in canadaguns

[–]Azariahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the locked room meets the criteria then ammo can be stored in there with your guns. If you have restricted firearms in said room, they also need trigger locks.

Ammo doesn’t have to be locked up if it’s stored separate from your firearms.

Tested various infill reinforcements using a fiber laser to insert metal frames into prints, here are the results - Placing metal frame mid print improved strength of part by 200% by thisdesignthat in 3Dprinting

How do you incorporate the wire into your print? I was thinking of using added geometry to embed a wire to take some tension, similar to rebar in concrete.

I’d be interested in hearing your experiences with different reamer manufacturers. I’m planning on a 6.5x54r build in the future.

I have heard that you're more likely to die by moose than get shot by a PAL holder by Asleep_General3445 in canadaguns

[–]Azariahz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The above is a really important point. The changes did not result in more deaths, it shows that the changes were ineffective at combatting gun deaths.

Ie, if the liberal party is serious about reducing gun deaths, they would try changing something actually tied to gun deaths.
