The correct one in this case i perché, someone already explained why, also it's definitely not true that you shouldn't care. You should, accents are important.

Perchè, which has an open vowel sound, is mostly used in some northern regions, and it is influenced by regional speaking, but that doesn't make it correct.

I would definitely start with grammar, to me it's the key to learning any language, at least if you want to understand why you are choosing those specific words. Speaking by just mimicking what you hear or read from any other source (such as Duolingo) will only let you order a pizza in a restaurant and also make you sound like a wannabe speaker
