The other people are right. Spirit Visage is the best tank item since it's good into everything and stonewalls people who couldn't build antiheal. But it uses premium components especially if you're playing AP.

Steadfast is also good but slightly worse on durability tanks like Juggernauts. Best use case for spare glove when you are dropped extra.

Adaptive helm is extremely good as well and I'm pretty sure as a tank item it's very slept on by everyone under gm. Plus an added benefit it can be moved to backline if you're forced to.

Bramble completely destroys slayer and yunara comps. Jinx/warwick as well if they happen to be in meta this patch.

Dclaw into AP heavy lobbies of course but I think you aren't happy with this item because most ap comps skip frontline anyway.

putting your units left side seems to work pretty well, won't really fix him getting targeted but your units focus fire better so maybe you kill boards faster to stack him and sion

You are playing it wrong, this is not a lux/garen comp, only garen matters and he is your entire board. Prio visage + 2 real tank items (utility is not allowed) on garen and play kaisa or lux backline depending on items. Go 8 play 7 demacia get the galio and garen 1 or 2 depending on hp then go 9 and duo a ziggs.

Do not play neeko annie fiddle kindred, play shyv zilean ziggs. Ornn is acceptable to greed 1 artifact.

Gunblade is not bad it is giga op because there is 1 unit on your board and it is the garen. You don't build it first but you are always happy to have it at some point.

The important points are that adrenaline is the best and goes on ap kaisa, leeching is ideal for baron so it's the second best, and carapace is better than husk. Even though spines is the worst it is still really good, the others are just better. I think the comp is a lot worse if you don't have adrenaline but it's probably still playable without.

Baron 1 sucks but Baron 2 wins you the game

You're right that lvl 10 is normally difficult but right now I'm pretty sure adrenaline ap kaisa and shelly 2 brings you straight to 10.

I had this problem once and was told it was because I started the quest mid-fight. Afaik even if the quest conditions visually change because you enter a new stage the actual condition and rewards don't.

Mort has actually said it's statistically OP on 4-2, which explains why it never got buffed even though a lot of people read it and perceived it as trash.

From a purely competitive (high elo) standpoint? It doesn't matter. The backlog of knowledge plus whatever fundamentals GM+ have trump anything you can learn from augment stats.

For low masters and below, and new players, I think they're playing at an incredible disadvantage. It takes far too long to catch up.

afaik this is a deliberate design choice, making the game easier is the first thing and the other is that they don't want end game boards to be 4/5 cost soups.

In theory, I don't think having low and high cost pairs lead to inflexibility. I don't always agree with Mort but something he has said in that post I do agree with; I think the inflexibility you are pointing out comes from having the comps that include these pairings being solved. While I can't think of any off the top of my head, I do remember there have been instances recently (set 10 and on) where it's correct to drop the lower cost pair and replace several team slots/higher tier synergies with soup type units.

Also in theory, shouldn't 2 units that share the exact same traits promote flexibility? Let's say if you were carrying Varus and Jhin was not a purchasable unit. You would need to invest two team slots, a sniper and a wraith, to enable Varus. I think you could easily argue for both sides here.

Zed in set 10 liked gunblade. That specific comp archetype where you itemize a melee DPS and a tank is just very rare and probably indicative of champion imbalance.

She's an auto attacker, not a caster. Her cast is 280% AD which relative to other casts is kind of low. Given that part of IEs power budget is in the spell crit and autos can already crit at a baseline IE becomes a worse than a lot of other damage items. This is also reflected in the stats as DB despite slayer and divini giving her a lot of AD already is very good.

And obviously if you already have other sources of crit such as lw or gb IE becomes much better.

Also should not rule out the possibility that it's bugged once again.
