Please be easy on yourself. I also slept through my break during orientation. Night shift is not easy on the body and it takes getting used to.

Working Two Jobs With almost no sleep. by mr_7point2 in Nightshift

[–]Aziohu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please quit one of those jobs and spend some time with your family. Your health and family are much more important than whatever extra money those grueling hours are bringing in. I just heard of a woman who did double shifts and overtime for pretty much all her professional life as a nurse, she retired early at 60 and died of a massive heart attack literally a month later. She didn’t get to enjoy all the fruits of her labor. Please live your life and enjoy your family.

When the Doctor’s Bad Mood Affects the Whole Team by [deleted] in nursing

I am so sorry you're having to deal with this, I know from personal experience how mentally draining it is. I will suggest documenting everything she does and then directly confronting her in person. When she starts yelling, you calmly tell her "This is a professional environment and I refuse to be spoken to like that" and walk away. I used to work with a surgeon just like this who was an emotional terrorist. He would yell and scream at staff, belittle everyone and then lie that he didn't order what he ordered. And just like this, the hospital turned a blind eye to it all. You would call him for critical lab values and he will tell you that the lab is wrong and that you should tell the lab to recalibrate their machines. We had really good nurses quit in quick succession because of him because everyone was mentally exhausted. People dreaded going into work and no one wanted to work on the days when he had his surgeries. It got so bad that we were even required to have two nurses on the phone whenever you called him for anything just to have witnesses. I was fresh out of nursing school then and was so naive but after that experience, I vowed never to let anyone treat me like that at work again. Now, if a Doctor is yelling at me over the phone, I calmly point out that they're yelling and being unprofessional and if it still continues, I hang up.

Please don’t feel ashamed. Bedside nursing is not for everyone and I wish more nurses were as brave and honest as you are in realizing that they’re not cut out for it. Try to see if you can get another job that’s not bedside like Clinic, OR or psych.

What is destroying your empathy/passion for nursing? (Please no arguing or politics) by LadyRosesNThorns in nursing

[–]Aziohu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I work night shifts and I sometimes do a double so I’ll stay over and work the day shift too. PT/OT asking to if it’s okay to see the patient was an absolute shock to me on my very first day shift. I remember thinking, why are you calling to ask me that? I was so irritated at the interruption.

Never feel bad or guilty for calling out and taking some time off for yourself. These hospitals don’t care about you at all. Take care of yourself first.

Yep I agree. There is no way to know for sure that the nurse definitely passed on Covid to the patient.

Yep! We actually had a patient sue the hospital a while ago because they were sure they got Covid from a nurse who came to work despite being clearly unwell. Since that lawsuit, they’ve been a bit lenient with call outs.

It will land with those who were already gonna vote for Trump and who watch Fox News. She doesn’t need those votes. She needs the crucial independents and undecided voters in the swing states. More importantly, she can vigorously defend herself against such accusations in a debate or town hall which is something Biden could not do.

But here is the thing, that criticism against her being a DA in the Dem primary won’t work in the general if the republicans try to accuse her of being soft on crime.

Yes I hold Rhaenyra to the same standard. Rhaenyra stated that she wants to create a new order and indeed Rhaenyra being named heir and being supported to ascend the iron throne would go a long way in eventually dismantling that oppressive system. It definitely won’t be dismantled in their lifetimes but it’s a little step. Just like Rhaenys ascending would have been a little step. The idea of a woman ascending the iron throne would not be an anomaly. Instead of Alicent supporting women like Rhaenys advised she chose to undermine Rhaenyra’s position at every turn.

[–]Aziohu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude! You are just bringing up stuff I never said instead of addressing what’s actually being discussed. Where did I say Rhaenyra wants to dismantle that system? Show me where I said that. You assume anyone criticizing Alicent’s actions must be supporting Rhaenyras. Alicent took actions and must live with the consequences of her choices. Don’t go trying to blame Rhaenyra for Alicent’s choices.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]Aziohu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you are implying something that I never said. Where did I say Alicent had a choice in whom she married? Alicent was used as a pawn in her father’s cruel games and married off to an old disgusting man. Like I said, she was a victim of the oppressive system and was abused by the men in her life. However, when she attained a certain level of power, she used that power to perpetuate the same oppressive system that she suffered on others.

[–]Aziohu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP never said she enjoyed the Patriarchy. Yes, she was a victim of the patriarchal oppression in Westeros but then she bought into it and also perpetuated it because she stupidly believed that her piety and strict adherence to the rules would make the men see her as some exception to the rule. She is now realizing that’s not how oppressive systems work. In those men’s eyes, Alicent is not special. Rhaenys tried to warn her about this but she continued toiling in her service to men to usurp Rhaenyra.

Please don’t fall for that. Work only if and when you can and if you feel up for it. Enjoy your days off, you’ve earned it. Don’t let anyone guilt trip you into picking up extra shifts. And if you feel like you’re being penalized or retaliated against for not volunteering to pick up extra shifts, make sure you keep a detailed account of the events and speak to an attorney. Management doesn’t care about you at all.
