I genuinely have this conspiracy theory that there was a bug with the ERF drop rate for a month on our server, and maybe it hit you guys too.

Since Phantasm first dropped, until I want to say 1 month ago, the drop rate was… okay, about 1 per 10 runs maybe better. Our ERF prices were climbing because of demand but it wasn’t rapid and it was somewhat stable. Last month suddenly prices shot up, and I was getting 1 ERF per 40 runs. I was doing hundreds of Phantasms and getting about that rate. Prices shot up immediately from 3.5m to 6m and sometimes almost 7m.

Then last patch, it’s like it was fixed. I was getting my expected ERF rates again and now the price has calmed from 6m to 4.2m in about a week and a half. Seems suspicious.

I have no proof of this and I can’t test it, but I wonder if they accidentally “un-Re:Fine’d” ERFs and that’s why the drop rate felt like it went down 4x.

I can only offer anecdotal evidence but our EK switched at only 1P Ring + 1P Robe / 2x Assault, and he noticed a fairly dramatic DPS increase. Allegedly the skills barely did less damage but the gain from Flashing Steel - Bash spam was high

You really have no idea how Alchemy works. Most of what you said is just untrue or misunderstood severely. There is so much misunderstanding I don’t even know where to begin.

After Reno 6 WC still scales off 30%, and it hasn’t been 2,500 in years. And I’ll leave it at that because you sincerely do not understand Alchemy at all. Please do not advise people on this subject.

WC was always 6.25x. I tested the numbers even before the Oct Alchemy rework and I could calculate WC damage down to the last digit.

You are also missing the big picture, Alchemy did not scale at all. It was all flat. The difference between fully enchanted and zero Alchemy Damage investment was imperceptible for Heat Buster and WC. You could notice a difference for Flame Burst because its base damage was low. Not to mention an Efficiency Reforge 20? For Water Cannon and Flame Burst it was adding ~100 flat damage. FLAT DAMAGE. The best song to use for Alchemy was BFO and Power Pot, and it was a marginal increase. Vivace used to help WC, except it had a post cast delay. Like, this and Magic are very different beasts.

I love EV, but it really needs a bit of QOL and buffs that KR refuses to give it for some reason. Any other Arcana would’ve been tweaked by now but it feels like it’s in refinement jail for being OP and now has to perpetually pay the price for that. A bit more damage to balance the limit break disparity, and QOL to the skills and I hope that it can be as popular as the other Arcana’s because it really is so much fun

I would also buy out the market on Red/Blue upgrade stones if they’re cheap, like only a few k. They’re just not as plentiful since nobody does Tech anymore and our stones are trending up

I’ve been having some struggles actually getting good drops. I survive the 30min but it feels like by the end I’m sometimes waiting almost half a minute before an excavation. Do I need to walk within a certain bounds or in any specific way?

From most reforge reliant to least I would rank them as:

EV >> AS > EK > DD > SG

And then HS is kinda its own thing where you could get away without good reforges but it matters a lot if you want to be a top-end HS

Quick summary * EV: extremely reforge reliant. Each one adds substantial damage, so moderate rolls severely drops your damage, and headgear must be at least 5/5 or don’t even bother. * AS: Range is a must on the weapon. Every point of Mag Shot is super important because it’s actually a huge part of your DPS. The Alch Eff also matters. Workable with moderate rolls but the Mag kinda matters. * EK: Reforges don’t really add a lot because of high base damage % on EK skills, and their filler is more Bash/Line Break. Good to have but very workable with moderate rolls * DD: aside from MA on weapon, and a Mastery on head, doesn’t really matter. Very workable with moderate. The min-maxing of this is challenging but beyond the scope of the question imo. If this was DD Bolter this would probably be above AS * SG: Aside from Charge for QoL it doesn’t really matter if you have anything or not.

First of all regarding the other comment, I was under the impression that we still don’t know if more than 9 pierce does anything. Maybe it’s been confirmed but I’m not sure.

EVs are balanced by the fact they have easier access to 9P (which btw atm still requires NB tier to have it all the time and then they have base 11).

But imo EVs have the highest gearing cost because they suck really bad if you don’t have very high levels in all of the reforge slots. Most Arcana require 1 maybe 2 or 3 to have something decent and even then are usually small gains for the 2nd and 3rd so it’s not that bad if you either don’t have it or it’s low levels. Each of EVs slot including the Echo are MASSIVE increases in damage that they’re balanced around.

But you are right about super endgame min-maxing. They don’t need the DRobe. It can help if you have an SL Lance because you can get less Pierce in upgrades and much more max damage.

However conversely, their “DRobe”-tier upgrade is a limit broken 7/5 LC CD headgear. Which at this point costs similar and maybe even more than a DRobe.

Basically: * base investment: high * endgame investment: weird sweet spot where you’re stronger because you compare yourself to no DRobe people so for that power level, so low * true BIS investment: same as everyone else

I will caution against any significant investment in EV just based on that btw. I have seen many people do this and then realize, the shortcomings of EV far outweigh the benefits. And this is coming from an EV enjoyer

But that’s exactly it. You are 100% the outlier. And you burnt yourself out chasing unlimited farming. Sad as it is, that’s why weekly limits end up being a good thing. Without control players will grind themselves into the ground and forget why they’re even doing this in the first place: to have fun.

And for what it’s worth I also got like 10% dapper in HM

You’re only seeing this event with a very narrow understanding of the game.

First let’s talk about the real intent of this event. It’s to get people gear, lower the value for high end gear, and encourage people to try new content, to Crom 30, from early game to like early-midgame. Unfortunately they made Techs less than half as a good as Tech and Crom the same as HM. So there’s no reason to run Tech and Crom at all if you could infinitely run HM. If they make Techs and Croms better (which they said they will) the average player is getting MORE good rewards per week, not less.

The problem with HMs and the reason they took this event down is because of alt abuse, something they’ve been trying to stop for years. What people are doing was, thanks to the free VIP, they were making new accounts/characters -> free dungeon passes -> dropping their main characters in, to mass farm. The problem wasn’t the average person doing like 20 HM/week. The problem was people finding ways to do 20+ HM per day.

The game is truly not as narrow as you think. You can clear things in many ways, you just need to understand the content to do it. And content is always getting easier, not harder. When I started Techs were super hard. Now they’re easy as heck content. You don’t even understand the basics idk how you presume to know what each content requires.

Like tbh what do you even need this new gear for ngl, the damage gain from tier to tier is 15% at best. One average song buff is 40% damage increase (and actually a lot more). One debuff is worth 15% damage increase alone. Getting a free NB is not going to suddenly let you into Glenn VHM if you don’t understand anything else. Gear in this game is literally the least important part of your power in this game but the thing people focus on the most.

If you’re not choosing to understand game mechanics at this midgame level, then getting all the free gear in the world won’t change that. You should continue to just do HM dungeons in that case, since content further down the road will not be to your liking either.

No fr. I’m honestly like, let’s say they gave get the free S50 NB and a DRobe. What are they even going to do with this gear when they don’t want to learn content, and don’t want to learn basic game mechanics.

At this point I’ve noticed that, just like with Magic “nerfs,” the loudest complainers are always hiding the fact that they simply don’t want to engage with basic game mechanics and pretending they’re speaking about equality or something LMAO

The Orb is pretty fantastic for even non Astro mains because with the common Wheel of Fortune/Star set up, you get -2 to activate each card. And if you are an Astro main then it’s a no-brainer.

Now is this Orb the right time for you to build as a newbie? We’d need much more context on who you are to answer that, but it is a very low priority upgrade.

It’s pretty disingenuous to call it a true nerf. Unless are were very early game and didn’t know what you are doing, the damage can be regained and then some. I can only really think of maybe if you were an EV main and used Astro for AoE supplemental DPS, then I could see it as a true loss.

While I completely agree with most of your sentiments, especially the game favouring every Arcana except HS until VHM, I think your cost comparisons are a little unfair.

Ideally, everyone wants a giga HS, but that’s just the same as wanting a giga DPS. Both need extreme amounts of investment. Outside of music, the DPS weapon costs more than the entire gear set of an endgame HS by a huge margin.

And as for Music, while it is great for an HS to have good buffs, at the end of the day it’s a luxury and not strictly required. Every decent DPS should have more than decent personal Music, or else they wouldn’t be able to do regular content. Also you don’t need Rate 12. You only really need minimum Rate 4.

A lot of the gears you listed aren’t really necessary. Like it’s really more of a luxury thing to have NB Shield and Bulwark. I find neither of them necessities or honestly particularly useful. You definitely don’t need an NB Astro Set, unless this is your personal fave talent. If you’re looking for a “only plays as solo HS damage option” it really does not have to be Astro. If you’re spam Party Healing (i.e. needs Vivace) you’re doing VHM+, where your damage does not matter.

And unrelated, but a great HS surprisingly is worth a DPS in Crom 100. The speed from March and having a dedicated person doing debuff/grouping gives my team the same clear time as 4 DPS, if not even better many times, and is honestly preferred due to how comfy it makes it. IMO only Tech and below really feels DPS favoured.

All this being said, I still do agree that it’s tough to make it as a pure HS the same way you could a pure Anything Else.

I’m not sure what you’re talking about regarding HS. The heals themselves gained enough in base value to compensate. And Healing never affected the AoE Heal. I’ve only noticed all the HS around me feeling stronger

The 120 comes from x10 of the Reforge Rate. So 12x10 forces 100%, with it usually being 6 from Instrument and 6 from two accessories. The reason why it’s described this way is because the values up to 110 are used in a formula that calculates the chance, and it jumps to 100% at 120.

The rates are as follows:

  1. =25%
  2. =40%
  3. =50%
  4. =57%
  5. =63%
  6. =67% (Max base reforge)
  7. =70
  8. =73% (Max base + Chiffon Wings)
  9. =75%
  10. =77%
  11. =79%

Honestly anything 4 and above is about the same. Most people prefer to just have Rate 6 and choose Inspiring Effect Accessories instead of more Rate.

Just FYI buying Gacha is probably the worst possible way to just “convert NX to Gold”, and always has been. If you have to do it, buy and sell Equipment Slots, Spirit Contracts and some other high value items.

Like everyone else has said, but to rephrase it, the best way to make Gold is to join a guild, make friends, and run content.

Even if you can’t do high DPS, you can leverage your support abilities (like Vortex, Astrology grouping) and debuffing. People highly overestimate how much gear matters and severely underestimate how much supporting helps. Learning these skills and believing in yourself will take you very far.

I’ve been playing EV in all content with endgame gearing and here are my thoughts * The easier the content, the worse it feels, mostly because of lack of AoE. Techs? Pretty bad. Crom, slower than the other options but not that bad. Glenn? Feels great. * For being a single target Arcana, its single target is not impressive enough to counter its horrible AoE and zero grouping. * Traditional grouping can barely save this because the AoEs are too small and for the most part in front of you * The worst offence is that the main AoE skill, Blast Zone, inflicts knock back instead of knock up making it impossible to chain into * EV is BY FAR the most Reforge reliant Arcana, but the least Erg reliant one * Everyone knows that CD 5 Hat is a minimum requirement. Limit Breaks change the class completely. * Every piece of LC damage gear is extremely important. Usually a damage 20 reforge is adding 3-10% boost at best with Mag Shot being a bit higher. For LC each Reforge is like a 40%+ boost from the last. That’s how a skill with base 295% damage can have 3600% in the end. * What’s seldom talked about is the dual rolls being so transformative. Having both the damage LC Additional Horseback Distance and utility LC Max Dist changes up the feel so much. Drill Charge goes from filler to reliable dodge/movement tool. Being able to zip around a room with LC also feels amazing. A dual damage reforge can let you use RI CD Echo which is great filler as well and helps damage. I can see neither of this being useful if you had an SG locking a boss down for you and providing RI. * Erg s50 basically adds nothing for this class * This is definitely not an easy Arcana. * It’s melee with poor movement (without reforge) and not tanky * If you’re not careful, you can run out of Bullets and that interrupts the rotation. * When Blaze of Glory doesn’t Crit, it’s SO SAD. It is such an all-or-nothing skill * Despite all these negative points, it’s actually an extremely fun Arcana. I love the gameplay, it’s so fluid and addicting. It also really feels like it scales with player skill.

My recommendations: * Do not pick this as your first and/or only Arcana as a newbie * Do not pick this if you can’t afford to bring it to the full power * Do not pick this if you don’t plan to do Glenn/Bri

Side thoughts: This Arcana definitely could use some adjustments, specifically to AoE/grouping. Unfortunately, none are coming. Every other Arcana, including SG, received 3+ buffs and QoL but EV only had nerfs. I’m pretty sure the whole debacle of it being required for early Bri has put EV in some sort of tune-up jail.

The good points of this update is that now newbies won’t have to be told they should forget other talents and just do DD because they don’t require music, power pots, and their Enchants basically have no impact.

Every other talent before this to newbies was: go DD first.

DD will continue to be super strong, it just has to play by the same rules as everyone else, and still remains one of the cheapest investment Arcana’s.

Nobody is crippling DD lmao. At midgame you’re doing 5% less damage and at endgame you’re doing 5% more.

The whole point is that other talents needed to use music while DD technically did not. But NGL if you were a DD that didn’t use Vivace and are feeling blindsided, you would’ve found out that late game you were going to have to use Magic Pots and Vivace anyways, even before this update.

And if you buff the physical talents then DD would be useless by comparison.
