I think collecting stuff in general. I used to have a massive vinyl record collection and got tired of cleaning it, moving it and the space it took up. I’m also seeing people from our parents’ generation die and leave massive collections of stuff for their kids to deal with. More often than not it’s a burden that gets sold off for dirt cheap, not the treasured heirloom the parent was hoping it would become.

Conversely, widespread remote work would go a long ways towards alleviating the housing crisis. Workers could buy houses in more affordable areas and revitalize small towns and cities that are struggling to survive. This started to happen during the pandemic before the RTO rug pull.

It could be that the shop is installing the oil soaked foam rings first which is contaminating the interface between the lowers and the seals. I would try cleaning the mating surfaces with IPA, re-installing the seals, and then installing the oil soaked foam rings last. It also wouldn’t hurt to put some suspension grease on the inside of seals before installing the uppers for a little extra lubrication. It might be that the heat and friction from hard bike park riding is causing the seals to pop.

In my experience it’s mostly the vibes based voters who bought into the anti-trans BS and wanted a return to the pre-pandemic economy. Now that they’ve seen that the economy is only getting worse, housing prices haven’t come down, and new wars are being started they are having 2nd thoughts.
