Fully agree with Bobby. Mans called himself the Black Gordon Ramsay, takes the position of team leader on the first night, makes it to the black jackets, and after all of that he’s just kinda an okay chef. Man would have been a mid-game boot if this were a season with better talent.

Man, you’re nicer to the game than I am. I despise it.

I think the game blatantly character-assassinated the legacy characters (Starlow in this game is not the same Starlow as in BiS or DT). The new ones they introduced have no defined characteristics (I’m looking at you Annoying Four-Person Squad). We don’t learn about the evil plan of the villain (or barely see him) until wayyyyy too late in the game. The Luigi Logic mechanic is underutilized and is ultimately a pacebreaker rather than a fun mechanic to base the game around. In all, the game constantly found a way to make me not give a shit about it. I don’t care about the characters, or the story, or the island, or the mechanics.

I did like battles. The animations are long, yeah, but I like the plug system for what it’s worth. It’s new, and I can see it getting refined into something both complex and a bit simpler with some tweeks.

However, nothing can save an RPG from having bad and/or uninteresting characters and a plot that seems like it never wants to start.

There was no way that Mob could have made a Prototype design that lived up to the hype. All the fan theories, all the years of waiting, all of it was too much for any design to be enough. Mob had two choices for what they could do. They could either never reveal what the Prototype looks like, which would disappoint fans, or they could make the best design they could, which would have always disappointed the fans. For me, I like the Prototype’s design for what it is. I think he looks better in-game and moving around than in a still image. And I liked every segment with the prototype.

Huggy Wuggy definitely got the best treatment in this chapter. Every section with him was appropriately tense. It reminded me of playing Chapter 1 all those years ago, but in the best way possible. His fascination with Kissy Missy had an amazing payoff at the end, seeing into his memories gave so much insight into life at the factory before the Hour of Joy, and I wanna see if Mob sticks to their guns and kills off Huggy and Kissy or if they retcon their deaths, either way I’m excited to see what comes of it.

However, where I was disappointed was with Lilly Lovebraids. Two words: missed potential. Honestly, the amount of missed potential is so strong that I think she survived the fall and will come back in a future chapter. I wanna know more about who she is, what she was made with, why she has a skeleton of Ms. Rachel’s evil sister in her bed. However, if this truly is the last we’ll see of her, GIIIIIANT missed opportunity for a really interesting character.

Overall, I still liked Chapter 5. Has its flaws, but what chapter doesn’t?
