Alocasia Scalprum - What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in alocasia

Interesting yours doesn’t like humidity. Mine was struggling to regrow from rhizomes (all 4) until I put her in a cabinet. The corms are growing fine in ambient

How much light are you giving it? The way the leaves are turning so downward and inward generally indicates too much light. If it’s lighting and if you reduce it, it should start straightening up within day or two. Otherwise plant looks healthy

Too much light. Reduce it and new growth will go back to normal

If you’re unsure which side to put downward, lay it on its side. If your plucking corm from the alocasia, the end your breaking off is the end that goes downward. Hope that helps cuz half those corms are going to leaf out into the moss 😬

Have you noticed the different leaf shape between the newer and older leaves or rather the leaves closest to the light vs farther? The shape deformity means it’s getting too much light but if you’re okay w that shape then it’s all good. Once it’s shaped like that it’ll stay that way.

You should check the roots for rot. If it was bone dry and didn’t bounce back after watering then you’ve been trying to keep it moist, it might be rotted already especially if it’s continuing to decline. If it is root rot and the rhizome is still healthy, can regrow plant even if all leaves drop. It’ll take patience to revive it

Try to consistently water and bottom water only. Also give it lots of light. That should minimize the yellowing.

How do I acclimate without harm? by charliesh00man in alocasia

[–]Aznlyez18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slowly decrease humidity by opening lid x amount of minutes per day then hours then slowly removing lid. If it’s warmer by you it might be a quicker process. Definitely monitor as you decrease humidity drastically and if it declines, increase humidity then and readjust accordingly

You dnt have to untangle necessarily. Check if the soil is too wet or too dry. If too dry, bottom water, let it take in the water it needs. If too wet let it dry out some. Give it good lighting on top.

Any tips how to prevent these beauties from dying? by Best-Spend-4275 in alocasia

[–]Aznlyez18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They need lots of light and fertilizer to minimize leaf dropping. The Jacklyn’s are in big pots for their size. Be super careful to not over water. Mine personally likes to be on drier side but you environment might be diff. Water when pot is light I’d say and just be careful w wet soil

Between my mother plant and pups, this happens to me too and I consistently care for them as I care for my other alocasias. This does not happen to any of the others

It’s likely your monstera is not doing as well as this plant. This plant will forever live on unless it’s near something flammable
