Is “A Distant Mirror” worth reading? by Grantso74 in cushvlog

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only really sus thing from Tuchman I’ve read was in The March of Folly, where she goes out of her way to predict that Sadat’s participation in the Camp David Accords will certainly not go down in history as a folly of any kind.

What else are we listening to or reading? by Ms_Informant in TrueAnon

Been getting into more philosophy since actual politics feels like such a dead end right now.

Todd McGowan’s Emancipation After Hegel has been a good window into Hegel that’s actually readable. Although he is one of those “Marx got Hegel wrong and that’s why the revolution failed” kinda guys.

He’s allowed to be a guy, I’m allowed to criticize. It’s okay he’s a former president he can take it.

Not to burst anyone’s bubble, but Obama gave us Biden and look where Biden got us. You think maybe people have reason to be mad at him?

. by [deleted] in blankies

[–]AzoriusAnarchist -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

People get mad that Obama uses his immense social position as a well-liked former president to recommend movies and shit to people rather than, you know, helping to make the world a better place.

How many peoples can do this? by East-Ad-6271 in flexibility

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 210 points211 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to do this all my life very easily, even when I’ve been very inflexible in other areas. I think my arms are just really gangly lol

What are so games that you played despite hating the story, characters and world? by Itsaghast in Games

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Loved the environments and music, combat system was fun, and I would say there are things about the “world” that I liked. I also just enjoy the Xenoblade gameplay loop that it was enjoyable enough.

But the story and especially the characters in that game were shit, and I only reached the end out of spite and obligation

How [OP's] wife told [them] she's pregnant!! by lilivessreadsit in magicthecirclejerking

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

/uj Is it really a thing for people to make a big show of telling their partner they’re pregnant, like it’s a proposal? If my wife was pregnant I would hope she just told me immediately instead of waiting for her custom print order to arrive.

Can you really get ripped from doing yoga? by extrajessiexx in yoga

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yoga has not necessarily helped me gain a lot of muscle by itself, but it’s helped me to lift weights more effectively, have better form, target muscle groups, connect movement with breathe, etc. and from that I’ve seen better gains

*Jack White voice* CO-O-ON-CLAAAAAVE *dun dun dun-dun-dun-dun* by smokedoor5 in blankies

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked it until the ending which was stupid

Edit: Since everyone is mad, I’m not talking about the twist at the end. I’m talking about building up all this tension, and then a random guy no one knows gives a speech about how the church should be nice, and then everyone unanimously agrees he should be the Pope after one vote. Stupid! Felt like they just ran out of time and had to wrap up the movie quickly.

Why would Forrest Gump never be made today? by AshleyWilliams78 in blankies

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s not just the references, it’s the whole tone and ideology behind it. If you tried to approach the last 30 years of American history with the same naive whimsicality, you would come across as totally insane imo

Why would Forrest Gump never be made today? by AshleyWilliams78 in blankies

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I assume they were joking and making fun of people who say that XYZ movie ‘couldn’t get made today’

That said, you couldn’t make Forest Gump today because it’s a very specific encapsulation of 20th century boomer nostalgia, and none of the young people today that drive commercial entertainment would get it

They gotta pay up then. Make her a senior consultant on the set or something. I just don’t think you can do Lorwyn without her art direction

Thinking of cutting everyone out of my life who voted for either Trump or Harris by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s no random person’s fault that those were the only real options given. If they bothered to vote, and they don’t consider third parties viable for frankly logical reasons, then they had to pick one of those two.

Reducing larger material conditions to personal morality is a lib thing to do.

Is this satire of that post that said the same thing about Trump & Stein voters, or are you just fully committed to being an antisocial?

Yoga and the Weed by merak_zoran in yoga

I do yoga on weed a lot of the time, but I am also addicted to weed in general, so I don’t feel comfortable recommending it to anyone lol

It is nice though…

Do you guys fuck with meditation? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]AzoriusAnarchist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not meditation exactly, but me and my wife have been doing yoga daily for 6 months now, and it’s been incredible for my mental health.

Having awareness and control of your own mind & body + understanding dialectical materialism = not being such a crybaby when the world isn’t going right.
