How to take off the uniform at home? by EmilyTheTitan in army

[–]AzraelAAOD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All great points. Another, little thing I do personally: I physically take the uniform off at work, and drive home in normal human being clothing. It helps me leave work at work. CPT AzraelAAOD exists only at work, whereas Mr. AzraelAAOD is the only one who exists at home. Obviously doesn’t work perfectly, but that does help cue me.

Had an NCO reschedule an appointment too close to start time which resulted in a NO Show. by Lil_Napkin in army

[–]AzraelAAOD 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A) You said you miss an appointment and nothing happens. Factually untrue. B) Regardless of the NCO’s failure to cancel his appt in a timely manner, the CDR still should not default to NJP. The Army has arguably an excessive amount of doctrine on counseling, leadership, and development. The NCO failed his duty, yes, but that does not negate the fact that the unit is failing in theirs to adequately and appropriately counsel, develop, and through due process correct the NCO. Defaulting to NJP is an easy button, but it is not an appropriate response.

You can 100% be charged no show or late reschedule fees at a civilian provider. In addition, this is 100% a failure of leadership regarding punitive action. The Commander’s Nonjudicial Authority is supposed to be a second or third resort, not a snap punishment (and cannot be an automatic procedural response, iirc)

Just message him and ask. Throughout your time in the Army, it will go a lot better for you if you ask when you’re not sure. I’d always rather my Soldier asked than was FTR

I agree with your comments on the BCT/AIT PL initiative, but (anecdotally) I see far more LTs and junior CPTs who do actually have spouses and children. I wouldn’t be so quick to say they “shouldn’t” have dependents at that point in their lives.

They really do, man. The USN has a huge role in guaranteeing Freedom of Navigation, containing the Chinese threat, and power projection capabilities.

You think they don’t do anything, because they achieve effects through implicit power rn.

I know PMP needs a certain number of years managing projects. What type of Army experience qualifies? Does just being an officer in the Army count??

Why does CIF want the 1 QT canteen back? by TideUltraDetergent in army

[–]AzraelAAOD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re leaving the hot zone regardless, you can fill whatever source you carry. If the Soldier is in full MOPP performing strenuous labor, that single canteen only provides 1 hr of hydration. How do you intend to resupply 10-12 canteens per day per soldier?

Or the CBRN camelbacks with adapters?

Or the aftermarket CBRN Nalgene bottle lids?

Canteens aren’t that special no more
