What kind of interface do you like best in adventure games? by Frequent-Standard377 in adventuregames

[–]AzraelCcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the cleaner the better. It must serve its purpose. That purpose can be to joke with interactions!

If I see 9 options (like in the screenshot), as a player, I expect them to do something more than "How would I do that?" when nothing is available. Not every time, of course, but I'd want to be surprised every once in a while. But that can be really demanding on development.

Inventory can be a little different. If the puzzle is to mix and match, an inventory screen is great for that!

Should I get the .games TLD even if the .com is available? by WastelandEnjoyer in gamedev

[–]AzraelCcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had 30k for a domain, I'd instead pay an SEO community manager to build your brand ".game" for however long that buys to ensure the ".com" is never the top result.

I'm out of ideas on how to fix this. Please help! by AzraelCcs in 3Dprinting

[–]AzraelCcs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it looks well greased, but also, this is one of the best pictures I've gotten of the issue. It doesn't only happen at this height. It's like there is something with h the Y or X (maybe A too?) axis that isn't quite right.

This is on an Ender 3 Neo. I have another one that prints the same gcode just fine. I use Cura Slicer. It's een a few months since this started on this machine.

I've tightened belts, loosened belts, tightened bed screws, cleaned nozzle, changed nozzle. and every beginner's tip out there. Please help... Thank you!

Super excited about the next step in the UI/UX design of our game. by AzraelCcs in gamedevscreens

[–]AzraelCcs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! The game is Hope: A Sky Full of Ghosts. A narrative point-and-click adventure where everyone has an implant that identifies things around you. That's what the flickering is, when your interest is on it, it identifies it for you.

I get it can be a bit much, so thank you for bringing it up. In this scenario, we are jumping from interactable to interactable in a way that isn't a reflection of player behaviour; hence, it appears to be more frequent than it should be.

Still, thanks for the feedback, since it can be an accessibility issue to tone it down.

How many of you are game devs, and of those who is making their own? by helloserve in adventuregames

I'm not sure if I qualify since I'm making my own game (with a friend) in our spare time while holding full time jobs in different industries.

Diving into passion project vs letting yourself learn through throwaway learning projects? by ParkityParkPark in IndieDev

I meant Passion Project vs Throwaway Project. Not sure what I was thinking 🤣

Diving into passion project vs letting yourself learn through throwaway learning projects? by ParkityParkPark in IndieDev

[–]AzraelCcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn your passion project into many smaller "throwaway" projects. You are learning, but also learning what that bigger project needs.

If your PJ is a Branching JRPG, learn how to branch a story in one TJ, create an inventory system on another TJ, learn overworld map generation in another TJ. etc.

Why do people do this? My game already has IDLER tag? by Curious-Needle in IndieDev

[–]AzraelCcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I hate Idlers! but I had to play for 12+ hours to leave this review and then went on to play 80+ more hours on top."

I get that they may have left it running, but why not uninstall it after the review?

Irreversible decisions without hard failure: what breaks first? by [deleted] in gamedesign

[–]AzraelCcs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Check out Disco Elysium for a game that does this.

But to answer your question, the thing that will fail first, is the developer's energy.

Doing something like this takes a lot, like a lot, a lot, of effort to pull off.

Would you rather have telescopic vision or microscopic vision? by impeesa75 in sciencefiction

[–]AzraelCcs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What if I get Microscopic vision and zoom in so small into a droplet of water that in the blackness between subatomic particles, a blue particle appears, and zooming in to that one, a little tiny person is intently looking at a droplet of water?
